I believe the Caravela has an adjuster at top, under or as part of the 510 pin, that is intended to eliminate button rattle. This will also allow the usage of button too batteries if you have them. If not, get flat tops...

Thanks so much. I don't have a battery at all. So a flat will work?

The LG he 4 is a good 20a CDR cell.
There are other cells that would provide longer run time with an equal CDR.

Whether it is 'safe' or not depends on the resistance range you intend to use, ensuring there isn't a nick or tear in the wrap and or a short in the delivery device before pressing the fire button.

Oh My!...I've always bought my devices with batteries in them so I've never had to worry. I have a Tesla Caravela clone and I didn't know I would have a choice on my resistance range. I thought the battery I was getting would be safe too. What's the battery you said will have a longer run time with an equal CDR? Oh man..It boggles the mind. Thanks so much for getting back to me...

Is your Caravela authentic? If so, very $$$$.
There is a Forum at their website or was 2 years ago. May pick up some pointers.
Be sure to meter your coils.
With Good cells & safe builds, Mechs give the user a wonderful vape..
Mine is a Clone I bought from Mad Vapes. I foolishly thought the battery came with them. Now I'm terrified I'm gonna blow myself up. Have no idea how to meter my cells. There is someone here named Mooch and I read his guide to batteries and I picked one off his list of what he felt was safe batteries. Here's what he said "If your battery is not shown in Mooch's Recommended Batteries chart below, its because his tests revealed that it didn't meet its advertised specifications, or became too hot during his bench testing to be considered safe." Thanks so much for replying.

I bought some Tesla Caravela clones and I know the 18650 battery goes in it. I don't know if it's aflat top or the button top. Can anyone help? Thanks

I am a user of the Caravela. It's one of my favorite mechanical mods. I can tell you though, that there are some "peculiarities" to it. For one, I advise flat top only batteries. Button top or protected batteries will just be too long. The adjustment screw at the top doesn't give much play for the battery rattle. They made different sized pins to adjust for different battery sizes. The only downside to the Caravela design, is it's low tolerance to battery size variations. Your best bet is to buy some good high drain batteries and test.

I had an unfortunate accident which turned out to be a fortunate solution... I lost the center delrin connector that went with the mod when I was looking for a replacement center pin. the only solution I could find at the moment was a rubber grommet that fit inside that was roughly the same diameter... It turned the center pin into a floating center pin which kept it totally leakproof. I've had it in this way for over a year, with no downside to it.

The last thing to note, is there have been different variations in the clones. Depending on which one you got, the bottom switch is different. It might help to figure out which version you have in case you need to get replacement parts. Fatdaddyvapes has an exellent picture showing the different styles.

Ok, In short, mechanical mods are direct connections to the battery. How much power you use from the battery depends on what kind of coil you use. The lower ohm your coil, the more power you will draw from the mod. You need to get an ohm meter, or have a way to measure the ohm of the coil before you use that mod. Go to ohms law calculator put in 4.2 volts for the voltage, and whatever amp rating battery you have... and then hit calculate.. That will tell you the lowest ohm coil you can use. Any lower, and you're over driving the battery. If you put in... say.. a .15 ohm setup on your mod, then you would be using 28 amps... too much for that battery to handle.. and that's when things get dangerous. :)

Just keep it safe, and keep the ohms at a good level. Make sure your center pin is protruding from the atomizer by a good level, and always keep your eye out for possible shorts and you will be fine.

Mechanical's have no output control or saftey features other than the one between the users ears.

Most folks that use mechs use an RBA of some sort & build differing resistance coils to suite their individual preferences.
You can use tanks/toppers/clearo's/delivery devices with replaceable heads as long as you check for shorts & ensure their resistance won't cause an amp demand from the battery that exceeds the CDR.
You'll need a way to measure resistance & check for shorts.
A decent regulated power device will work.

These cells will work well, provide a longer run time than a 2500mah cell & be safe as long as you use them under their CDR.
LG HG 2 3000mah 20a CDR
Samsung 30Q 3000mah 20a CDR
AW 3000mah 20a CDR
Sony VTC6 3000mah 19a CDR

Only buy batteries from reputable vendors/dealers to avoid fake, counterfeit/re wrapped lesser quality cells.

I buy mine here ---> Batteries and Chargers

Any cell that Mooch suggests will be sufficient.
You Don't meter your cells, you meter your Atomizer.
Seeing you have a fear factor (which is good) keep your coil resistance around one ohm till you get the lay of the land..

ahahaha Wow. How little I know.. Reading all the wonderful advice i'm getting here makes me realize just how dumb I was for deciding to buy my own batteries and put them in the casing. The atomizer is the coil itself, right? I'll have to get me an ohm meter reader thing and I'll youtube how to meter my atomizer. I guess when that's done I'll figure out the rest. wow. Yep I'm kinda scared but I'm gonna try to do this. Thank you again for the advice.

I bought my batteries from IMRbatteries.com which is I hope a reputable place to buy them. The rest of all the stuff you told me is like a foreign language to me, not your fault but mine, I'm a novice.. So not sure what I'll do. I make have the 3 batteries and 3 tanks around forever without doing them. Kinda sucks but I really don't want to blow myself up. Thanks for the kind advice
