EHPro "Manhattan" mod. I was wrong about mechs.

My Vaporshark died just as fast as my higher powered and much cheaper Chinese mods. I never had an issue with the older generation of VV/VW mods, but now I think I am done with regulated. They are way too fragile now.

The problem as I see it is in the back then days, everyone had to step up their game to match the provari' reliability and accuracy if they wanted a chance. Once the provari got left behind in the watts arms race It became who could outwatt everyone else for the lowest watt per $$. Theres what 40+ mods using 3 chips now? What happened to companies making their own versions of chipsets?

Im sure theres some ok mods now. But I sure dont remember as many failures before the watt race.

When it comes to pure reliability theres a reason, provaris, reos and well made mechanicals can still command top dollar and be selling out

I agree with everything except the last sentence.
I think the extreme limited production has a lot more to do with selling out.
Especially with mechanicals.

I really wanted to buy a Provari 3 too, until the specs came out. 20 watts just won't do it for me, at least not with an RBA. I need 18-19 watts per coil and it's nearly impossible to find a decent single coil RBA these days.

Ever watched the provape tour video? They have the shipping dept stacked to the ceiling.
the reos sell as fast as they make them.

But I agree " with some of the mechs being produced in small batches.

on a dual with low wattage, dump the micro coils and get some 31-32 g ribbon wire get to about 1.4-1.6ohms. Ribbon will provide plenty of surface area to compete with a micro with a lot less wire to heat up

I've already dumped the micro coils, but the last time I played with ribbon wire I started fires inside my RBA. Maybe that was because I used to low a guage, but I don't know. The fire would start on the part of the wire coming out of the positive pin and before it came in contact with a wet wick.

I dumped the micro coils when i got the rDNA 40, and even though that unit is pretty much trashed now, I'm still spacing my coils since it seems like I get more usable voltage out of the batter (i.e. with micro coils, the vape started great but was very unsatisfying by the time it reached 3.7 volts, but wiuth spaced coils I can vape down to 3.5 volts or so and it seems more consistent throughout the battery life).

I just ordered some 316l stainless wire to play with too. the juice I like has a bit of saline in it which destroys kanthal after a week or two. The titanium, coils in my rDNA lasted forever, but titanium is expensive and hard to find in the gauge I like.

The sheer size or lack of size and amazing looks of mech mods got me into them after three years of vapeing. I own a Flask AND a rDNA40 plus a bunch of other regulated devices (some I have are the IPV3, Sig 100W, Sig 100W Plus, Sig 150W, IPV Mini 70W, Sig Mini 30W and an IPV2S 70W among others) and after getting into mech mods about ten weeks ago I have found a few I really love and bought doubles of them (SMPL, Fournine, Praxis and the Fuhattan.) I BARELY touch my regulated boxes anymore at all. I just use a mech with a .2-.3 ohm build and my favorite RDA and I am in heaven. My Praxis and Derringer is so tiny its unreal compared to the bulkiness of say a Sig 150W and truth be told I dont NOTICE any VD mind you I do swap batteries all the time so that could be part of it I dunno. And I have done the math, set my regulated box to ROUGHLY the same wattage my mech would be pushing with the same build and used the same RDA and juice and maybe its in my head but I swear I get a more satisfying vape with the mech. Its strange. I can see why my wife has 23 mech mods and two boxes LOL.

I know exactly what you mean. The vapor from my mechs seems more dense at equivalent power levels. I think the clean, flat DC voltage you get from a mech as opposed to the boosted sawtooth signals from a regulated mod has everything to do with it.
