I have one (actually two, another one I introduce to my wife for her to stop smoking and still work in progress). eleaf TC40W is ok I found nothing wrong at all compare to Evic VT. Both I use in TC mode only, so far so good. 40W is enough I maybe wrong but I found Evic 60W running at 10 - 15W only for my 0.4ohm Ti coil I am using.

I'd stay away from eleaf. They work alright but as I discovered on my Istick 30w, they don't always hold up as long as other mods. I only had mine since feb and it went out. Considering how much cheaper isticks tend to be, now I know why they are so cheap. Even the temp control one is cheap. Keep in mind they are cheap for a reason. I am just glad I got an Innoken Cool Fire 4 coming. They make good products and I can't wait to see their temp control stuff when they release it.

It's an istick TC40W.
It has temperature control; not the finest, but it works.
It has variable wattage.
No battery changing; not the biggest capacity mah, but caring for it is easy.
it's only 40 watts, but it handles everything but the upper end.
It will eventually break, battery wears out, switches won't click right.........all mods do that though. Some just do it a little quicker. Some mods can be fixed.

But, it's less than 30 bucks. In the overall scheme of things that makes it a dam good bargain.

There's obviously going to be some user error due to TC needing room-temperature components to get a base resistance reading. But the thing does have consistency problems that aren't seem in the DNA40 for example. I tried various of TC coils and settings on the TC40W and some had the issue, some didn't.

The problem is that sometimes, after a while, the resistance suddenly drops. Resulting in a weak draw. This seems unrelated to changes in coil temp, mod temp and room temp. It also has a weakness that the "resistance lock" function doesn't actually lock the value, it just stops it asking the question "new coil? up/down". Letting all parts cool down and resetting doesn't help. Setting the temperature control higher returns the flavour, but gives a bit of a burned taste.

For example, Kanger Subtank Ni200 OCC coils, when new show 0.15ohm. After about a day of vaping, the TC40W drops to like 0.13ohm even if it was locked, and no way to get it back. The older the coil, the lower the resistance gets. Those factory coils are spaced, so it's unlikely to be a shorting issue.

On the other hand, homemade coils seemed to work much better. I made some 0.18 ohm (32AWG, 6 wraps spaced) and it went for a week with no fluctuations.

Tell you what. Here in Sweden, nothing is cheap. This mod retails at around. $.60. Ok its not expensive but not cheap either considering you pick it up in other countries for around. $ 30.

I would gladly spend a couple of hundred bucks on a mod but I want to know that its working properly and that it will last at least six months.
So if all these mods crap out after a few months, might it not be best to stay away from this TC business because youre right, lots of people seem to have issues with this TC.

The TC40 is a great little inexpensive device. I've only used mine in "TC" mode.

With that said, much like many of the other devices which may ask you "new atomizer?" when switching tanks, the TC40 sometimes needs to be "coaxed" into recognizing that it needs to ask the question.

Other than the above I've been happy with the form, fit and function of the TC40.

Thanks, good to hear something positive about it.

The TC40 is small, light, internal battery, pass through charging and VW/TC modes. Whats not to like? I've had everything from Aspire K1 and Nautilus tanks to Kanger STM and eLeaf Lemo2's mounted on the little box.

While my vaping requires a dual 18650 or better to last all day and the TC40 won't come close to it, the TC40 is a decent device for the cost.

There are twice the amount of returns of the Coolfire 4 that their is on Isticks. We even sell more Isticks than Coolfire 4's. So don't get your hopes up. We have never had a return of any kind of MVP line. That's why we push the MVP line. CHEERS!

I have noticed these exact issues with my TC40. Locking the coil doesn't really lock anything, and if the resistance drifts downward (for whatever reason), weak vape ensues. Re-locking the resistance doesn't usually fix it either.

Best I've figured out, is to unlock the resistance, remove the atomizer, turn the Istick off, turn it back on, screw the atomizer back on, then re-"lock" it.

For the price tag, I'm pleased with it, but it's not perfect. IMO, they aren't far off though. A little tweaking and it would be great.

I have the TC40, I don't use TC. I got it because with my style of vaping, I vape at a little over 20 watts and I have more room to grow than the 30 watt. I use a nautilus tank with a 1.6 or 1.8 ohm coil. Battery life is real good for its size. Simple to use, works as advertised. 2 months and no complaints. I would recommend this unit to a beginner or mid level vapor.
