Mains...although I did break down 3 TC coils and 2 of the 1.2 ones. What builds do you suggest to make them useable again?
I'd say whatever is your favorite vape! The sky's the limit. Depending on what you like, you can do a 0.12-0.15 Ni, 0.3-.0.5 Ti, or depending on the Kanthol you use, pretty much anything! I haven't tried SS, as none of my mods are set up to handle it!

Wrapping horizontals; 28g and 2.5mm diameter. Space the wraps and keep it to 1-1.4Ω. That's what I would do...

The verticals at 1.1Ω should be swell. Wrap what you're comfortable wrapping.

I bought 30AWG Kanthal A1, now I am wondering if that is a bit to small of a wire? I haven't used it yet, since I have boat load re-coiled with Ni already, but my iStick20W needs the Kanthal coils!

I started rebuilding clearo heads with 30g KA1. Eventually found I much preferred 28g for the purpose. The 28g is easier to re/wick. It dryburns really well. The coil itself lasts a couple of months. In tanks with decent airflow and liquid feed, I find the 28g provides better flavor too; probably a surface area/heat flux thing. I also wanted to find a build that I liked around 1.2-1.3Ω, as it was the sweet spot for all my early APVs (post eGo spinners). 30g, at 1.2Ω, doesn't have enough surface area to provide an excellent vape, IMO.

30 gauge Kanthal at 6 wraps at a smidge less than 2mm gives me the perfect 1.5 ohms for my airs.
Bounced around different gauges and settled on 30...of course, YMMV. ;)

I would think that die-hard tootle puffers would like this build a lot.

Every time I try wrapping at 2.5, I get a short. I don't have much luck keeping the coils away from the body of the coil head. I wrap mine on a 16 gauge piercing needle.

I use the wicking material to get the coil in final position, and make sure it isn't touching the sides! I've done 2mm, 2.5mm and for one of my other tanks 3mm, no problems so far, though I did buy a coil master tool!

Exactly what I do, use the wick to gently nudge the coil towards the center by pulling it to the left or right.
Sometimes play with the spacing with a needle prior to trimming the wick, this allows me to keep it stabilized
until I'm done fussing with it.
I usually don't fuss with it much as I am a lazy coiler.

I've been having periodic problems with the ECF servers for a few weeks now...
Thank you sir! :) Just logged on for the day and now I'm seeing a different format on my pages. Most everything that used to be at the bottom of the page is now to the right of posts. :?:

ETA- now the pages are back to normal.

Just read the last few pages about TC, recoiling, and birthdays, let me add my thoughts:

1 - TC - I have been using TC for about 2 weeks and I love it. I also love non-TC. I vape the 1.5 kanthal coils at 14W. If I space out while vaping and don't draw firmly enough (pass enough air over the coil) I can sometimes singe the coil/juice. With TC that doesn't happen.

2 - Birthdays - I will be 12 on the 29th.

3 - Haven't recoiled yet, but saving all my coils for the end of the world.

Rebuilding the GS Air Pure Cotton Head(1.2ohm)
To remove the cap i'm using a 1,8mm diameter piece of bicycle spoke, insert it in the hole, bend the cap out und remove the old stuff.
Then i build the coil with
0,22 NiChro wire, 8 turn around the spoke Coil wrapping
no micro coil, just pressed together
then i insert the coil in the head and catch it through the two holes with the head
now i'm pulling the two ends straight, insert the insulator and the plus-pin, cuting the exeeding wire.
taking double diameter japanese cotton(Muji) as wick cut on the outside with1-2mm plus and spread this so that the holes are well closed and the juice needs to enter the wick and nowhere else.
To place back the cap i take away the sealing place it on a washer and press the head on it, sealing back in place and the head is done.

I applaud your preparedness! Damn zombies are coming any time now! :D
I cringe when I hear someone's tossing their used coils.
Happy (preemptive) Birthday! :w00t:

Thank you for sharing with us!
What ohms are you coming out with? 1.2?
Creating a TC coil?
How do you get the manhole cover back on? I'm thinking you are describing using a washer to accommodate the raised portion
of the manhole cover and then pressing the coil down onto it...?

around 1.8 ohms depending on my accuracy
with 0.25mm Ti-wire i will try TC one day
I place the cover on a simple M5(or an old car key) washer and press the head, mounted in a spare base(handling) on it. First time is a bit strong, getting easier.
