This has always been my thought on it, there was a big debate a while ago on what caused juice

to darken. Between the heat and the .... wicking out of the coil...take a look at the coil I took apart on the blog, he's right, it goes both ways!

Yea, the crud gunking up the coil oozing back out into the juice supply.
My K1, I couldn't go more than 3 days before wham, nasty-foul tasting gunk-funk.
And just one of the reasons rebuilding coils is even better applied to a true RTA like a Kayfun etc.
Super easy, quick and cheap to just throw in a new wick for a fresh taste while the coil itself can last for months if you want.
And a dirty wick/coil doesn't funk up the rest of the tank like that.

I don't have a GS, but darkening juice is just stuff out of the atomizer -- wicks are not unidirectional. Try taking out a well-used coil unit and sit it on a paper towel, the stuff absorbed out is very dark.

You must be buying the elcheapo coils that forgo the check-valve. ;)

Yep, sweet tooth on your vape is bad for your coil longevity...

Thank you very much, I will keep my sweet tooth and just rebuild. I have found in larger capacity tanks it can indeed change the flavor slightly. I usually use smaller tanks for my honey vapin. ;)

The coil I rebuilt is still working pretty good. Still can not turn watts past 15 but I will take it. I bought a bunch of diy flavoring nic pg/vg, mixed up 5ml of juice last night for the 1st time. Not to bad I can vape it lol. Once I tune in my flavors I will really be saving some $$. My wife thinks I am crazy spending a bunch of money now but later she will be thanking me lol.

Once I get the materials mud and cheech sent me I will rebuild another coil and let everyone know how it went :)

I really wish people would quit worrying so much about those figures. I long for the ego twist days when I just turned it till it tasted good! :) Now I have to try be the guy sucking on the most electrons. :vapor:

What was your experience rebuilding, go smooth? what size bit did you use for the coils? Ple-e-e-ase!

Yeah it was pretty easy after watching your video, ran into some trouble with the liner, had some flooding at 1st. Then I had dry hits so I reduced the amount of cotton in the coil, less is better I found. I think I took the build apart 3 times, last time I pitched the original liner and used flat cotton for the liner. For the coil 28g kanthal wire I used a 2mm screw driver 6 or 7 wraps I think 1.4ohm is what I get on my 30w istick.

Trouble with the original liner? I had the same problems reusing it.
Yes, cotton does swell, my preference is rayon.
Now I am using a 5/32 drill bit with 7 wraps, came up with 1.34 ohms, oops 1.35.
Thank you!
I took some new pictures for the build blog, editing them to get them up.
Can you get some pics of your builds?

This one I really like, how much is the cap on?

thanks Cheechako for the coil building video..
I rebuilt my first coil.. used 10 wraps 28ga on a 17 gauge needle with rayon.. for the outer layer wrap I used some of my old supply of Lipton pyramid tea bag material..

It came out to 1.4ohm and is vaping great.. I have used about 4mls so far and no flooding, gurgling or leaks.. :)

The Gs-air is quite the tank.. my gennies are feeling lonely, since I got it..

Thanks to the op for posting about it..

I love this tank rebuilt, glad I wasn't imagining it!
Thank you for posting your rebuild info...hopefully more will chime in.
Cheers! :toast:

And Javamon is the genius who brought them to our attention, a big debt to Javamon!

Yeah Java is a pretty kool kat if you have followed him around a few threads. :)
