eleaf iCita
intro.jpg
In this review, I bring you a brand that is completely new to me, although I was already familiar with it, and I've always wanted to try some of their products. In this case, I bring you the eleaf iCita, a POD-type device equipped with a 1600mAh battery, a touch screen, and an aesthetic that is honestly very striking and beautiful.

This review is possible thanks to Bella Vapor Store, which unfortunately closed on April 22nd. You can visit this page to learn more about the Eleaf iCita.

Packaging

The device comes packaged in a rectangular box that combines black and green, as is typical for Eleaf. This packaging reminds me quite a bit of that provided by Vaporesso, mainly due to the color combination. On the top, we can see the brand, and what catches the eye on this front part is the image of the device in the center, which gives us a first look at what we're going to find. On the right side, we can observe the model name, in this case, iCita.

Finally, we find a warning about nicotine on the bottom of the box.

On one of the sides, we can find the contents of the box, some specifications and contact information, a barcode, and a small rectangle that indicates the color of this unit, Gunmetal Grey.

In the box:
· 1* iCita Battery
· 1* iCita 0.3 Ω Pod
· 1* iCita 0.6 Ω Pod
· 1* USB Type-C Cable
· 1* User Manual
· 1* Warranty Card

I'm going to consider this perspective as the front of the device, since this is where the touch screen, the charging port, and the lanyard slot are located.

Well, as you can see, we have a large black strip; this entire area is the control zone for the screen. At the very top, we see a fingerprint icon, which translates to the fire button on any other POD. However, here, it doesn't activate the device; it only serves to adjust the wattage. To do this:

- We must press this touch button five times, and two touch arrows will also appear: one pointing upwards, which will increase the wattage one by one up to the maximum recommended for the coil, and one pointing downwards, which will decrease the wattage one by one down to the minimum recommended for the coil. After adjusting it, we must press the fire button again, and we are ready to vape.

Well, regarding the smoothness and comfort of this screen, it's not bad at all. It's clear that the animations for increasing and decreasing wattage or the fluidity itself aren't the best, but they are more than sufficient. Additionally, it responds quite well to touch; it's not frustrating where we have to press very hard or many times for it to activate—it's just right.

As for the information on the screen, we can observe:

- Battery indicator with slots: It consists of exactly five slots, where each one represents an interval of remaining battery. Each slot that disappears indicates 20% less battery. That is, if we have all five, we have between 100-80%; if we only have four slots, we have 80-60%, and so on until no slots remain.
- Battery indicator with percentage: This is even simpler than the previous one. I think one of the two is unnecessary since there's no need to have two indicators for the same variable.
- Wattage indicator.
- Ω indicator
- Puff counter

To expand a bit more on the functions of this device, something curious is that to reset the puff counter, we must remove and insert the cartridge three times in a row. It's a bit strange, but it's not uncomfortable. However, it must be done in less than 2.5 seconds.

Finally, we find the charging port at the bottom. This charging port operates at 5V/2A, meaning it has fast charging and will take approximately 45 minutes to fully charge the device.

I now present the iCita from one of its sides, specifically the one where we can access the airflow control.

Well, the aesthetics of the device are like this: it's a rectangle, let's say, very similar in shape to the Lost Vape Thelema Elite 40. The body of the device itself is made of some metal, probably a zinc alloy. With the aim of providing both comfort and aesthetics, we have a kind of faux leather that borders the entire device from one side to the other. The touch of this is soft, and in my unit at least, it has an "X" texture. This area is hard; that is, it's not soft or padded like on other devices.

I really like the aesthetics, and I think the construction materials are of good quality. As for the weight of the device, it's not the lightest of its kind, but it doesn't seem excessively heavy to me. It feels very, very comfortable in the hand and has a quite suitable size (similar to or even slightly larger than the Yihi SXmini MQ Class, although less wide, for example). The weight measured on a scale with the cartridge included is 87g, a more than reasonable weight for a device of this style.

Let's move on to talk about the airflow. It consists of two large holes and an extra one on the slider itself of the regulation. Honestly, it's not a device that offers a very good MTL; it's quite the opposite. It offers exceptional RDL or DL, but it's not focused on MTL vaping. Something I've noticed is that when completely closing the airflow, that is, leaving only the hole in the slider, it produces a somewhat annoying whistle. However, this phenomenon does not occur in any other situation. As I said before, for DL or RDL, it more than meets expectations and filters the air great. If you are looking for a very good MTL, this is not your device.

On the other side, this area of the airflow intake is replaced by a small plate with Eleaf branding.

What I'm showing you now is the iCita Cartridge, or iCita Pod, whatever you want to call it. The connection with the battery is made via two magnets that really hold the cartridge firmly; seriously, they are good magnets, and the cartridge hardly wobbles thanks to them.

As for refilling, we can see a large green silicone flap. We simply have to open it, and we will find the filling hole, where we can insert up to 3mL of our favorite e-liquid (remember to let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the cotton is well saturated before you start vaping). At the bottom of these cartridges, we find their resistance in Ω and the recommended wattage range.

Vaping Time

To begin with, I have to talk about the in-hand feel. The shape of the device reminds me of a mod, albeit a very small one. It feels really comfortable in the hand. I should add that the faux "leather" area isn't soft; that is, it doesn't have any padding behind it, it's completely solid.

Regarding the cartridges, I'm going to give my opinion on them. In general, the flavor they provide is quite solid, it's quite faithful and is delivered very well. However, something I have noticed is that the lifespan of the coils isn't the best, although of course it greatly depends on what liquid we use.

If we talk about the airflow, it filters the air very, very well, and can easily provide a good MTL if needed. Something I would put as a disadvantage is that when completely closing the airflow and leaving only the small hole that's there, a rather annoying whistle can be heard.

Otherwise, it's a pretty elegant device, comfortable in the hand, and provides a good hit, good flavor, and good flavor production.
