I was yanking your chain, I've only owned the TC 40 for two weeks.the stock coil has lasted so far. I tried the TC coils and I don't care for the way the mod works in TC mode or the tighter draw of the TC coils. My battery lasts close to all day depending on my intake which is generally 5-10 ml at 10-12 watts on the standard coil.
Yep, you got me...call me vulnerable tonight...

Forgot to add that the TC 40 is my primary device. I have an ill performing Kbox mini, mini iStick 10w, and a couple mechs. Kbox mini was my all day until either it ate its buck/boost circuit or my Subtank just bit the dust, but after eating dry cotton 1 too many times and more rebuilds than I care to mention, I retired it. The budget friendly and highly praised GS-M and TC40 took its place.

My 40W TC (I don't use the TC) lasts close to all day, too. Usually. I've had mine around a month now (just got a second one) and my coils are lasting on average 2+ weeks running approximately 140 ml of 85PG/15VG juice through the coil. I vape between 5.8 watts to 6 watts. GS coils, original 1.5.

Out of curiosity, I dug out the kbox mini and attached a different atty, works like a top. I guess I've got serious wicking issues with the Subtank. I just re-ringed and rebuilt the tank, still burning the cotton. I'm so done with the Subtank for a while.

The iStick combo seems simple and bomb proof . I hope it lasts.

HELP!? I hope someone can rescue my iStick 30W...the pretty blue one! I've had it a few weeks and it's always performed delightfully. Last time I finished using it I put it in it's little velvet bag and dropped it in my vape bag. Went on to the next iStick for awhile. Today I wanted to sport my pretty blue again, but when I put my GS Air tank on it...it read 0 ohms! What? I'd just taken the tank off of my 40W blue iStick and I knew it had no issues. I attempted to wipe out the connection well on the 30W with a little alchohol and a Q-tip, and then I attempted to ease the pin up (gently) with the tip of a pin. Nada. Ohms still read 0 on the screen. :(

I put the same tank on my magenta 30W and it's working fine. But I really am going to miss my blue baby. Yes, I have a blue one in the 40W, but I wanted the slightly smaller blue one for our shopping expedition today. Can anyone offer any suggestions? What can I do? I bought the faulty iStick (and I have NO idea how it went "faulty" in the bag it was in). Surely there is some way to resurrect it so it'll read the ohms again...and vape/work? Pweeze?

That is strange.

Since the 30w has a spring loaded center pin, it probably won't help to pry it up.

Have you tried using something pointy like a precision screwdriver to press on the center pin to see if it's moving freely?

It's possible that the wire that's soldered to the center pin broke free. The only way to know that is to disassemble it. That would be a last resort.

Edit; I just remembered that it should show "No Atomizer" if it's not connecting. I'm thinking maybe there is a short in the 510 connector.

Thanks! Some helpful tips! Okay...so I took a darning needle (blunt tip) and mashed gently on the center pin. It seems to be moving pretty good. I put the tank back on...and while the display shows "0" when I first connect the tank, when I push the fire button it does show "no atomizer". What do you think? Any hope? Any more tips I can try?

I did get my other M tank and put an old coil (that still works) in it and tried putting that on the iStick. Still reads 0. Dayum.

One thing you could try is to put a 510 to Ego adapter on it and then your Air tank. That might tell us something.
Okay. I dug out the 510/eGo adapter that came with the kit. Checked it first on the working magenta iStick 30W (worked fine), then tried the ailing blue one. Nope. Still says 0. Aw jeez.

It's possible the depth of the connection to the one mod is shallower than the connection to the 30w,
I would try another tank and see what happens...
Well...I only have the two M tanks. The current one is the newer one....it's on the magenta 30W now. The other one was the older one that worked fine on the blue 30W. I just tried it (with a coil screwed in)...and it didn't work. Still shows 0 for the ohms. I do have other tanks, but they have not been tried on these iSticks at all.

Yeah, that's not good.

It sounds like there is an open circuit inside the iStick. Maybe the wire broke loose from the 510 center pin or maybe there is a problem with the circuit board.

I don't know if you tried turning it off and then back on or not but that sometimes fixes things.

Oh yeah. I've turned it off and left it off awhile and turned it on again...several times. That's it then. It was the last of the 30W that MVS had a few weeks ago. I doubt they have them in stock....and since I've had it awhile I don't know if they'll honor the warranty or not. Just my luck. I already looked at two of my other regular vendors. One has only the kit (at a higher price than the kit for the 40W TC!) and the other one does have the basic model (non kit) but the price is as much as for the kit at the first vendor. I haven't looked at MFS yet. And really..I'm tapped out on buying vape supplies this month (I say that...but I know me...). Guess I'll contact MVS and see what they say and go from there.

Check with your supplier (some don't honor 90 day warranty). Or contact service@ismoka.com if it's under 90 days and you have your code and receipt

I've had my TC40 for a few days and I have to say I like it very much. It performs great in VW mode and has enough power to run whatever I put on it. Great battery life. It is the most simple to use for TC. A quick and easy setup. Just lock in your coil res by holding the buttons and it stays there until you lock in a new resistance. The TC performs flawlessly and is easy to switch back and forth from VW if you wanna change attys by pressing once on the menu button. I expected to have to crank it up over 500 to get a warm vape because most people say that's the case for them. I like it fine at 430 where I usually vape the SX Mini or Vapor Shark. Maybe because I'm usin a dual twisted .06 ohm nickel coil. The claim is longer battery life in TC mode but I haven't seen that to be the case yet. It seems to use the battery quicker than VW mode but then again it could be my low build. People are sayin it's a good intro mod for TC, but I say it is a great mod for TC. It holds temperature as well as any other and will vape a wick completely dry without burning. All the safety features work including the one to prevent firing a low ohm nicoil in VW mode. Zero issues so far
Thumbs up on this one. Best VW/TC deal around. :2c:

I put the FDV 510 Connector back onto the iSitck 20W after using it in another project for a bit. The K.loud RTA on it makes an excellent little stealth setup.

OK folks, I just found you (or rather, a friend said to come here) and I see this thread has 75 pages already, so get ready for a dumb question that no doubt has already been answered (but I don't have the time at the moment to read 75 pages). I have a little iStick30 and I tootle puff at 9-10 Watts most of the time. Someone told me I need to get an iStick40TC, so here's the question: What purpose does Temperature Control have and why do I need it? Thanks in advance.

Well..if you like really low ohms and cloud chasing and such, I hear TC is great! You get to set how hot the atomizer gets and can custom build your coils and things like that. If you aren't into that sort of thing..you can use the iStick 40W TC as a really nice variable wattage device with a longer battery life than the 20W and the 30W, and with some other nice little features, like locking your wattage, changing how the display shows, and..hm. I don't remember now what else. But it's cool I really like mine! I have two now...plus one 30W (also love it) and 2 x 20W...which for me runs a little hot. I'm sure someone will come along with a much more lucid answer, but this is the best I can do, atm!
