Hello forum members.

I have a bit of a problem with my ss nemesis clone and cannot really put my finger on what's going on. And sorry in advance for the long post but please bare with me.

I recently bought Samsung 25r to supplement my soon to be aging sony vtc5. I put the samsung in the charger and let them fully charge. I measured the voltage with a DMM to 4.2v.

I popped one in my mech and it worked well. When I was vaping I noticed, what I had thought at the time, that there was some excessive heat with the vaping. It was hot! I figured that it was normal usage of batteries. When I fired it again (after it had time to cool a bit). I noticed this "heat" again. oddly enough I switched hands and noticed that the mech wasnt that hot. So I fired it again and noticed the same "heat" so I concluded that it might be an electric shock (start the panicking now). I looked on the forums and noticed that it could be an electric shock but the body of the battery is fine and there isnt bare metal touching the body of the mod. btw this "heat" or electric shock is coming from the center tubes and I feel it on the top of my palm (using the pinky to fire).

I put in my vtc5 and I do not feel the same "heat". Leads me to believe that this might actually be the battery and not the mod. and the heat or electric shock is very apparent

Now I attempt to trouble shoot the issue. On other threads posted in ecf, I see other members resolving the issue with naolox on the threads of the firing pin as well as any part of the tube. I will attempt this tomorrow when I go out and buy some of that stuff. but how come I do not feel the shock using the vtc5?

Next is the weird part. I switch to my copper nemmy and I do not feel the electric shock using the 25r.

this situation is getting my head turned upside down because it is leading me to think that the problem lies with the ss nemmy now.

So my question to you all is:

Is this a problem with my ss nemmy or the battery?!?!

My train of thought is that it could have been the battery (25r) because I do not feel the shock with my vtc5 (using the ss) BUT i do not feel the shock using the 25r my copper nemmy! ... is this ....! lol

all in all, I want to be safe(r) when vaping :vapor: but I do not know. I sent an email to the location in which I bought my battery in hopes of an RMA request. Perhaps it is the battery since my vtc5 doesnt give me the shock.

Please and thank you for all advice in advance. And thank for making it this far down the post.

Wow, that's a weird one. I would definitely stop using just for safety sake but not knowing would annoy me. What atty are you using or are you using different ones/resistances. Is the battery warm when you take it out of the problem Nemsis?

With the SS nemmy and the 25r, I do not get a warm battery (not pushing it too hard)

With ss nemmy and vtc5, I get a warm battery. I can use it until i decide for a recharge.

Copper nemmy is fine throughout for both. I did use the 25r for a couple of pulls to see if it would shock me and it hasnt. Although I definitely feel worried about using it without finding a proper reason as to why this is happening (awaiting email from company still)

and I am using a trident v2 (clone). It is measuring at .57 ohms. Just rebuilt it today to rule out that issue. Last build prior was .59 ohms

Make sure everything is nice and tight. Before adjusting the button for battery rattlemake sure the tube sections don't have a gap between them. If there was a gap between the two sections the current would have to jump from one to the other and that would cause heat.

I almost want to go try that and see if I can replicate it. Almost...I'm not going to haha

Although I plan to not replicate the issue, I believe everything is all tight. I even cleaned the ss nemmy with 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean the threads. I set it to dry and tried again. no difference. but I am able to my vtc5 no problem. not even the slightest feeling of electric current! I am actually using the vtc5 on the ss right now and still do not have an issue.

gonna get some noalox today and update. and hope to hear back from the company today too.

So my question to you all is:

Is this a problem with my ss nemmy or the battery?!?!

I also have a SS Nemesis clone (run for a couple of months with springs, then switched to magnets for another few months), Samsung 25R's, and a couple of all the VTC series batteries. When I first started using the Nemesis I had attys on it at around 0.4 minimum, but typically closer to 0.5 ohms. It was my main vape for over half a year until I switched to a Reo Grand. These days I use it for my Mutation X set up currently at 0.2 ohms. I don't vape that too much, just when I feel like a bit more vapor production ;)

I always took care to keep the mod clean when I was using it all the time and I still do now. I found if I went more than about 3 weeks between cleanings with magnets in it I would start having miss-fires, so I cleaned every 2-3 weeks. During that time I never experienced any shocks.

Since I've had the low resistance MX on it I have experienced it twice between the two big tubes. Each time I tightened them a bit and the problem went away.

I'm sure it's the mod, not the battery. Both times it happened with a VTC5 in it.

It's definitely startling when it happens! If it happened repeatedly to me I would give the mod a good clean. I use alcohol and paper towel and give all the threads a good rub down. Same for the 510 screw and 510 female threads and the air flow adjust ring. I take apart the switch completely (don't lose the little pin) and make sure this surface is clean along with the button surface that rides in it;

The surface discoloration left after cleaning where the arrow points is OK. I have never used any sandpaper or anything abrasive like that on the parts because I don't want to change the surfaces.

Hope this helps a bit :thumb:

The problem I found with Noalox is it thickens up in a week and I find myself having to clean it off and re-apply it. IMO if it works for you use it. I ended up staying away from it for the most part and leaving SS dry is working for me.
