Was all ready to sign, until I saw SEIU. Sorry I can have nothing to do with them.

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about with the whole service union thing. Is it part of the petition website because it's not part of the actual petition. Sure you're not talking about the old one that was going around a while back and got closed?

SEIU probably isnt involved in this particular petition (or any petition) and they may just be one of the sponsors of the Care2 petition site.
If you dont want e-mail alerts or any involvement from SEIU then just uncheck the box.
It doesnt matter if you support SEIU or not, but if you support our right to vape and use e-cigs then it would help us all to sign.

I spent the majority of my evening joining forums ranging from cancer related, to quit smoking, to groups dealing with protecting our rights against over legislation. At each I have posted the following letter (though slightly tweeked on some forums in order to show how our cause pertains to there's). Feel free to post this letter on your own forums or edit to fit your own needs. Keep getting the word out as progress on the petition has been slow this weekend (currently at 159 signatures)!

The posts are as follows:

Forum Title: 45 Million Americans need your help!

Believe it or not there is actually a product currently on the market that is proving to have up to a 70% success rate at helping smokers to quit the the tobacco habit!! It is so amazing that most people (including myself) quit the moment they obtain a legitimate device. I am going to provide you with a video link and a forum link in which you can do your own research and hear stories from individual after individual testifying to this very fact. I have asked all undersigning members of the petition to post their experiences with the product as well and I simply ask that you read what they are saying. The product has been poorly labeled and marketed as an "Electronic Cigarette" which is a term that most who have used absolutely hate. Fact is it is NOT a cigarette but more of an inhaler. The user is inhaling a liquid which has under 20 ingredients which have all been previously approved by the FDA. This as compared to the almost 5000 chemicals and 27 carcinogens in standard cigarettes! Big tobacco companies and pharmaceutical companies (who either manufacture cigarettes or the cessation products with a despicable 5% success rate) are putting pressure on the FDA to ban these products! We beg you to get the facts!!! Please, as this is a matter of life or death to one out of every five Americans! In addition these Electronic Cigarettes, or "personal vaporizers" as we like to call them, do not produce smoke, therefore no harmful second hand smoke, NO ODOR, no ash, no butts. They also have no open flame therefore no fire danger.

Why are they involved in any way with this?

The website is free to set up a petition for whatever you possibly want. Like with most websites that are free they have sponsors. If you want nothing to do with them then just make sure the box is not checked. They are in absolutely no way related to our petition just to be clear.

What happened to the Petition?
I went to check how many sigs it has now and the site says its been moved.

Yeah I just went to check it out and it's vanished. When I searched for it on the site, I found it, but clicking on the search result also says it's been moved. Any idea what happened?

I did find one other interesting petition here though. It is for banning electonic cigarettes and was post 2 days before the petition by the OP. It now has a grand total of a whopping 12 signatures.:D

To all Petition Signers:

I came home today to find many e-mails. Some from people who repsonded from other forums thanking me for starting it. And some from people on this forum wanting to know what happened to it!!!! I went to check what was going on and while it say's that it has been moved....THE ACCOUNT NO LONGER EXISTS! No record of my username...no record of my asociated e-mail! Furthermore the site which is suppose to be a free site which allows you to petition on any topic that matters to you (Care2 - largest online community for healthy and green living, human rights and animal welfare.) did not even have the courtesy to send an e-mail or notification of any kind. All 172 of our opinions....all your testimonials....simply erased.

Note however that this one which was already up when I made ours (and still only has 9 signatures) is still available (---REMOVED LINK CUZ PRO-VAPERS WERE SIGNING IT---) THIS WAS TO BAN E-CIGS PEOPLE!!!! DON'T SIGN IT!!!! I WAS JUST POINTING OUT THAT THEY LEFT UP THE ONE TO BAN E-CIGS!!!! LOL!!!!

Be it a decision by Care2.com or influence by an outside entity I doubt I will ever know but apparently we have been shooshed! I'm guessing Care2 has decided that a method of helping one in five Americans quit tobacco is not considered to within their claim of promoting health or human rights. I will attempt to get an explanation from Care2 however it will have to be done manually as any automatic help has been disabled due to the fact that it seems I have never been a member! So disgusted at the moment I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Incidentally the ONLY negative response I received from ANYONE regarding that petition came from a member of this site who I will be big enough not to name. (Don't believe for a second though that like minded individuals are the only ones here)

Reading all your comments was making me very proud that I had started that and I was becoming extremely active in promoting it. Apparently someone heard! I am absolutely sickened! Welcome to America people and I suggest you stock up!

Actually it had 9 until I posted a link simply to point out that they had left the petition to ban e-cigs and our supporters started signing it. Fortunately the "ban e-cigs" now has a comment or two about how great they are!

Anyhow, the above post was posted under general discussion yesterday with the title "To the 172 people who signed the petition in a 4 day period". There are a few comments beneath it in that thread that may be of interest to you unfortunately what it boils down to is that I have been unable to obtain any response so far from Care2 regarding this. I will continue to try (and wait for the holiday to pass) before taking another approach to this.

Hey that really sucks. Send me a PM or an email if you don't get a explanation that makes sense from Care2. It seems like maybe they killed your petition un-fairly, but maybe it is just a mistake.

If you can point to some evidence they are being un-fair I can write something on my blog or mail my growing e-mail list to take some action.
