Very interesting artucle.

But putting solar cells around the e-Cig to charge it would never work, even in theory. The cig. area is just too small to generate enough power even if the cells had 100% efficiency and you held them in the sun. Out of the sun and it's even more ridiculous.

I don't know about that because I have a 8 year old G-Shock with solar technology and it is pretty impressive on how it works and their new watches are even more advanced now.
This is off their web site about their New technology
Non-Stop
A solar panel converts even weak illumination from fluorescent lighting into electric power. A rechargeable battery with a large power storage capacity supports stable operation of various functions with high electricity consumption. You never have to worry about the battery running down because it's a solar battery.
Solar Powered
Casio watches with solar technology , receive thermal and electrical energy that recharges the watch batteries through solar panels on the face of the watch.

And the New Generation of these watches are Bluetooth and wireless technology that control your smartphone.

Now I know mods pull way more power but Solar technology has come a long way, and being a owner of a iTaste 134 I think they will have no problem putting solar panels on the bigger mods.

solar power anymore does not actually require the sun, as strange as that sounds.

I have offices at work who do not have a window and we run solar powered keyboards in them with no problem.

Now whether the panels could be enough to generate enough power to charge up a battery with the necessary umph for an ecig in a reasonable amount of time is another matter. but I would expect that battery technology may come along way in a decade.

Good article! However, there's no formaldehyde in E-cigarettes right now... so whatever formaldehyde is in the E-cig of the future will be put there by nonsensical FDA restrictions and Big Tobacco. And heavy metal content of vapor? What E-cigarette is the author of this article vaping? If, by 'heavy metal,' he means Metallica, AC/DC, and the like, then I agree. If he's trying to paint a picture of droplets of mercury or melted steel floating around in my cloud of vapor, well then, I beg to differ, sir. However, he does have a great point about the batteries. And I don't think he's talking about installing a solar panel ON your E-Cig. I think he's suggesting that better, more efficient solar energy collecting devices will be made portable and fitted to hold an E-cigarette while it's charging. Read about this and feel free to be amazed by it. I know I was when I first saw it: Rawlemon’s Spherical Solar Energy-Generating Globes Can Even Harvest Energy from Moonlight
