I can't figure out why the Shotgun mod from Emit Vapors hasn't gotten more love.

I just got mine today, and I've been vaping it for about two hours.

This thing hits like...well...a shotgun...and just oozes quality. The threads are perfect on the cap and the switch. Floating pin seats very nicely. Button pressure is a little stiff, but you know you've pressed it when you did, so that's a plus for me.

Fit and finish is perfect. A really nice, weighty device. I really like the minimalistic elegance. Looks great with every topper I have.

These things have been on the market since mid-December, and I order one from a OKC Vapes...and get serial number 70. I would have expected to get somewhere in the upper 3 digits by now, considering the excellence of these things.

Sure, they're pricey, but you'll spend the same amount on an optioned ProVari.

Personally, I think they're worth it!

Market has been flooded with mech mods and its "just another mech" at this point, why buy another mech for 220 bucks if its not better than the rest. Its a 23mm device with a weird looking 22m top cap. 22m devices sell better than 23mm devices and the new mech's that hit like mike tyson are made out of copper.

Copper stingray is 200 bucks, I don't think the Shotgun Mod out performs or is better made than the stingray so why spend 220 on something that is not as good unless ofc you like the look of the shotgun.

Appearance is totally personal preference. To me, the Shotgun is beautifully designed and crafted, and you think it looks weird. To each there own.

I agree with some of what you said. There are a lot of mechs out there. Sadly, most of them are clones.

I cannot bring myself to buy a clone. I've been close a couple of times, but from a purely personal moral standpoint, it feels like theft. Just can't knowingly do it.

That being said, trying to actually find a "genuine" mod, can be challenging. Couldn't find a new stingray, nemesis, panzer, etc., just last week. I was actually able to get a Nemesis via the classies, but still waiting on the postman to deliver.

If someone is looking for a really high quality device, doesn't have the patience to wait for VapeRev, and doesn't feeling like getting fleeced with overseas VAT and shipping to the US, I'd highly suggest the Shotgun.

They probably need to "sell" it, let the people know its there, I ran a quick google search and there were no reviews from the top guys out there..... and just one youtube video.....

That's a good point. First place I saw the thing listed, was IndyVapor. Never heard of it, and didn't give it much thought.

Started looking closer about a month ago, and looked all over, and only found that video you mentioned and a few obscure articles.

Methinks Emit Vapors needs to pimp their wares a bit harder.

All I said was the top cap was weird looking, its a 23mm trying to be a 22m and that looks weird. Otherwise it looks like a mix between a Hades and Neme.

If I can't get a real one because they are sold out I get a clone. Its like getting aftermarket parts for your car.

And that's a perfect valid point and opinion. However it still amazes me, and I am really no different because sometimes I do it myself, but there seems to be a need to have what everybody else does, maybe its just human nature, for example, and this is my very personal opinion, I believe the Hana mod, is ugly or boring at the very best, overpriced, and yet is one of the mods everybody want at all costs..... and there are many other examples out there. So at the end it all comes to make the product you are selling somehow desirable and even if its a POS people will buy it. (and I am definitely not talking about the Shotgun here :)

I agree.

Think the hana has a lot of good selling points and looks isn't one of them. Atty's sit flush, battery life, different colors and well built.

I have a shotgun as well. Kind of an impulse buy with the lack of reviews. I love it! #55

I do have a question. Maybe you as a fellow owner can help. The button is a beast to press. Is there anyway to make it easier aside from replacing the spring?

For those unfamiliar- it has a magnetic button but it has a spring that holds the battery snug. It's a really high quality spring and likely the pressure issue I am having with the button.

But this blows my authentic nzonic experience away! 0.14 volt drop feeds my tugboat nicely!

**edit**I see you said your button is stiff too. So I guess I was just wondering if you were able to relieve any? I am a fat man with tiny fingers :)

2naphish suggested replacing one of the stock magnets with one of the ones on the link below to lessen the button pressure

I haven't tried yet, but I might.

So I'm out in SoCal working this week, and I make a stop into VapeRev this evening to check out some high-end stuff, and be awed. I start talking with the sales guy, and asked why they don't carry the Shotgun or the Ballistic. I figured with Emit being in their backyard, there's a good reason.

Patrick (sales guy) had never heard of it. I wish I'd brought it with me, but it stayed home. Needless to say, I was telling him about this thing and he was in disbelief! We looked it up right there on my phone, and he was stunned. Brought the manager over to show him and got the same response...they're both drooling to hit the thing.

So you've hit the nail on the head JaRod. Emit Vapor needs to up the marketing ante.

I stopped by my local B&M today since they emailed me that they just got in a bunch of new stuff. I looked at a few mods, since I was in the market for a legit mech.

One of the mods they had was the new AR mod, which looked so cool! I definitely wanted it. The 2 reasons I ended not getting that is (1) it makes 23mm toppers look puny...my 22mm Trident looked like a mini PT on it and (2) There is no lock for the fire button, only a recessed fire button as a safety feature. I *need* a safety ring or mechanism when putting it in my pocket for peace of mind.

Next to the AR mod, was a sleek satin stainless mod with teardrop cutouts around the bottom half. Looking closer, I saw the quality of the machining on the top cap and was even more intrigued. I spoke to the owner, who told me it was the new Emit Vapor's Shotgun mod. Authentic, made in the USA. He took it out of the case and handed it to me. It was definitely a hunk o'steel! I probably looked unsure, because it does look very similar to any other generic mech mod out there, I never heard or read about it before, and my face showed it. The owner knows my tastes. He seen my sub-ohm build before and I even helped coach one of his customers on how to get tighter coils in his builds. So he took out the battery from his Nemesis, unscrewed my Omega, and stuck it in the Shotgun...handed it to me and said take a hit. I hit it....it HIT me back! Now that's a hard hitting mod!

I was sold. I am now the proud owner of #361. And Man! Does this mech hit good! On my Omega clone, with dual twisted 30ga kanthal, at 0.4 ohms, this thing will put some hair on your chest!

So there you have it. The Shotgun... It's looks like a lot of other mechs out there, but when you hold it, it's a hunk o'steel...when you hit it, it'll thump you back. Good Purchase!

That's the exact same scenario I went through! Lol!

The only disappointment I have with the Shotgun so far, is the lack of a kick ring. I know, old school, behind the times, blah, blah, blah...I just have a juice or two that don't function well with high power, and I'd really like to use the shotgun without making a 3 foot coil :)

I received my magnets last week. They did the trick....I reccommend using 3 rather than 2. After a couple of days though, I missed the stiffer button! So I went back to stock. I think those magnets overall were too weak. 3 of them tightened up and gave me the feel I was looking for but the looser button just didn't feel right with the recessed button. At least for me. I think this is one you just have to try and see if it suits your personal need.

Man I love this thing!

I picked up one of these recently just because I wanted something different on my stand. Nice mod all in all and I like that they are American made. It's nicely made, well machined and solid without being too heavy - on par with the weight of my ELA. I like that its 23mm with a 22mm top. Looks great with a Kayfun, not as much so with a Taifun GT. I wish they would have left it at 23mm all the way to the top. As nicely made as it is, it's not flawless. The machining from the body to the top cap is nearly invisible. The machining from the body to the bottom cap, not so much and they could have spent more time making it perfect. The threading is good and feels better with a little Noalox. The teardrops on the body look outstanding. The finish overall is outstanding. It's that brushed look that looks polished without being reflective that keeps looking nice without showing a lot of fingerprints. One feature I love and hate is the locking ring. It's a part of the bottom cap. When you try to tighten down the bottom cap with a nice twist, the locking ring wants to come down. They could have had the threading run the same way and this would have been avoided. The floating pin works very well. The button works very well. It is stiff but I prefer it that way. At first it was a little choppy but after a few days use, its very smooth. As far as how it hits, it hits well but then again so does everything else that I have so I can't say it hits better or worse. Is it worth it? Are any of these things worth it? It's a two hundred dollar battery holder but all non-clones are just around $200 battery holders from what I can see (other than the ELA, which by comparison to everything else is the only under priced device on the market in my opinion.) They should have included the 18500 tube in the box in my opinion for the price. That being said, I'd recommend it to any one looking for a new mod. It's well made and American made.
