EMS shipping speed

So I ordered from Ruyandirect on Thursday 4/3. I selected EMS shipping, figuring 10 days or so to get it. Thought I'd be safe, as it'd be coming in far enough after some of my other orders that the wife wouldn't be perturbed.

Needless to say I just got a perturbed message from my wife stating that a box just arrived from China. I don't think she believes the money I'm saving on analogs is paying for this anymore.

Seriously? 4 days from China? Through customs and everything?

Lol yep... EMS includes express shipping from the USPS. My orders from David Yang took longer to enter the EMS system than it took for me to get them afterwards. My last package (ordered last Wednesday) was already in customs Monday, released yesterday, and received today.

Not sure why customs from the UK takes so much longer.

[edit] When I ordered from Ruyan Direct, I chose the airmail option. That took around 10 days.

The EMS tracking system is pretty sluggish too. They still showed it at JFK this morning. I think they use the same tracking software that USPS uses.

What slows EMS down is our customs and proity mail, I still get a package in 5 to 7 days. I don't thaink that is bad at all. I have had orders from Amazon.com here is the US take longer. They have got on my list of last resort for ordering.

Nitewriter--you will see that your next post will be "Arrived XXX-Handed to Customs" depending upon which customs it goes into here in US. Then you will see "Released for Customs" and then it will hit your door within 24-48 hours from that as USPS Overnight Express Delivery takes over from their. You can also use the same tracking number in USPS once you see it hit Customs here in US----Hope that helps---Sun

EMS is easy to bribe in China. The package descriptions for Tariff Codes are also ludicrous. What do your boxes say? Party favors? It's a matter of time before the US catches on to the EMS game.

Ok. That's really great. In hindsight, since forums rank way up there in google searches - I don't think it would be a good idea to discuss considering our precarious position. I edited out all references between the two in my post. That's me, I'm nuts. That's been proven right here on ECF a few times already. Nothing personal... there's enough stuff on here to meet again. Definitely a big ROI $upporting ECF.

Please, edit my quote if you will? Even just take out EMS, DHL, TNT etc. I'm a paranoid lunatic anyway, even before reading some of the other posts on ECF about you know what.

This is the first time I've ordered from China, so I don't have any way to say how they are labeled to get through customs. I'm sure they must be fairly truthful or face some serious consequences. whenever my order comes, I'll let you know what the label states...if I'm able to read it.
