I'm not sure what you're asking. Did you prime the coil and fill the tanks with ejuice?

I'm also not clear what you are asking.

A burning smell is most likely from user error. Did you "prime" your new coil? Did you "break in" your new coil?

This video is applicable for all coils and tanks.

I need to know what brand(s) equipment you are using (type of device and atomizer models with exact coil specifications/brand). What wattage are you using to power the coil?
Are you using e liquid, then what flavor and VG/PG ratio and nic content or are you just smelling a coil as you apply heat to it?
