Was at my local vape shop, talking about the slightly burnt taste from my kayfun 3.1 clone. Took a hit & Holy Mother of God!!! Death by burnt cotton!! Up my nose, down my throat! The whole shop could smell the hell I was in! The inside of my nose STILL - hours later -- actually hurts!!! Tender to the touch even.

Only problem with with the build I found, upon ripping that death-tank apart, was that the cotton was caught in the threads of the chimney. Is that enough to cause it? I have serious kayfun-phobia now & plan to rebuild them with Ekowool (love it in my RDAs) to avoid having my face blown off again!!

guess cotton is for the brave, or at least, not for clumbsy amateurs!!

The cotton needs to be like this.

Along the sides of the built deck and not blocking the juice channels.

So yes if the wick was caught in the threads of the bottom chimney section it would cause it to not wick the juice properly. Which in turn would cause the cotton that is through the coil to burn.

LOL! My wife and I both just laughed at this! Hope you're ok...

Yes, you should make sure the cotton stays put when you put the chimney back on. Put the barrel on first then the chimney top cap. Cotton needs to be changed about every two tanks or so depending on what you're vaping. don't let the tank go dry or you will be vaping cotton... NASTY!

eh, i'd rebuild again with cotton just incase it was a fluke. i don't think it being caught in the threads could've caused it, but i have noticed that with the kayfun you definately need to be tidy with the wicks or it's a pain. i have since moved to using rayon (gasp) for my kayfun (as well as everything else for that matter) and the dry hits/flooding/lack of vapor production are just a bad memory now. maybe give it a shot?

Burning cotton releases acrolein, which can be quite harmful to breath.

Quite harmful to every mucus membrane!!! Also instant headache. Funny, the cotton was sitting there looking innocent, didn't look burnt at all. Not so fond of cotton now but I find the microcoil/cotton build to be so, so much easier than wrapping Ekowool & fitting it in the chimney.
