Bought my first ecig last Sunday and I love it. Now down to 6 ciggies a day which is some sort of achievement.

I knew there would have to be a forum for this and here it is!

I'm a bit confused though. I have a rechargeable bit which looks like the white smoking bit of a cigarette and it pleasingly glows when I puff. I had five things which looked like a filter that screw on. I have no idea what to call these bits and reading the forum I see there are lots bits and pieces.

Can someone give me a run down in plain english what all the bits and pieces mean and what things I could refill and how and with what.

I bought an ecig called nicolite. I'm happy with it but concerned that the suppliers are not very convenient for replacement bits and pieces.

I live in the UK.

Any help and assistance to keep me on the straight and narrow would be gratefully received.

I'm sure everyone else will chime in about everything else. For the UK here's a reccommended vendor's list All about e-cigarettes - Recommended & new suppliers list I didn't hardly know any vendors so you'll be able to shop around better than I could when I started I hope.

Welcome to the forum and to vaping and hope it works out for you! Best of luck.

Hi Mary and welcome! I'm so glad you're loving your new e-cig :)

The white part with the glowing end is the battery. From the Nicolite website it looks to be a 510. 510 is the number that describes the threading. There are different batteries with different numbers.

The five things that look like a filter are called cartomizers. They screw into the battery and are filled with liquid which produces the vapor and taste. Cartomizers also have numbers for threading which should correspond to the battery they fit.

Most cartomizers can be refilled with liquid, sometimes called juice. You can buy liquid from a variety of vendors. Any liquid will work with any cartomizer, so you have plenty of choices.

The Nicolite website doesn't give much information other than to say they are disposable. If so you may only be able to charge the battery a set amount of times.

I hope this helps a bit. :)

I doubt it is a 510. What I am seeing is 2-piece, possibly a disposable and a rechargeable, with female battery and male threaded carto? My first guess would be RN4081 but there are also models around that look like RN4081 and are not compatible with 510 threading nor RN4081

My opinion is you should buy a known model that has blank cartomizers available for it. Visit Liberty-Flights.co.uk or iVapour.co.uk (only because they are the sole source of some 510 stuff as Janty's main - Janty invented 510 stuff, Joye manufactures it)

That is my opinion because it can be a fruitless pursuit to try to track down rebranded ecigs. And if it IS RN4081 then it's not a very popular threading. Buy some blank RN4081 cartomizers (if you can even find them in the UK) and some PG eliquid and see if they work.

As for adding eliquid to what you have? Refilling is not that safe with auto batteries. If the cartomizer leaks you can damage or kill the battery. VG eliquid is too thick for refilling. Get a high PG blends (like 20% VG) or just 100% PG juice. See if the end cap with the mouth airhole can be pried out, being careful not to catch stuffing or wire. Inside there should be stuffing alone or stuffing with a donut shaped silicone seal over it (I hate that kind - I do not get good repeat performance out of them). If it has the seal, take it out. Hold a tissue on the threaded end hole and add liquid to the stuffing - as much as it will take and absorb. Then clean it up well, If there is a central air channel then blow into the threaded end to clear it. Sop up any loose juice or overly wet areas. Make sure the threads are clean and dry. To be totally safe, stand it on end overnight then clean it up again (because you have auto batteries). You will get limited reuse out of a cartomizer since they cannot be restuffed and are hard to clean/dry (only some people are successful with cleaning them). They are meant to be disposable.

If your rebrander wanted to keep customers from refilling the cartos, they may be selling cartos with hard caps or glued in caps. In that case you'll have to use some kind of trick to get juice in (condom push or dripping into hole.) I cannot help you with that.

I defer to dormouse's knowledge and experience.:)

Mary, a good place to start reading is the ECF library especially the "stickies" at the top that say "The wonderful world of vaping":
The ECF Library

Then there is the ECF Library Annex

It could be either 510/306 or RN4081 threading - it's just much more common to see RN4081 as a 2-piece sold by rebranders - probably cheaper for them to buy bulk from China. The main problem is it may be neither. There is a Chinese wholesaler model some rebranders use that is female battery and not compatible with either of those threadings.

Mary, click on the home page of the link that Leftfield gave you or click on my signature banner - there is a good photos & video thread in the new members area of my forum that specifically helps new UK vapers to get started. I Never want to take folks away from ECF as it's the best forum ever but not that many UK members here these days :(

Today I had an analogue (see I'm getting the hang of the lingo) at 9 am. I'd been up nearly 2 hours. In itself a miracle. It's 5 hours later and I haven't had one since. I've used my ecig but not constantly, just a puff or two. I may have an analogue shortly but normally I would be crawling the walls and now I'm not.

And I didn't buy any more so I have only got 10 left. And my husband and I have just ordered 2 DSE 901s. I am hopeful that this will help him give up the ciggies but even if it means he cuts down that can't be a bad thing. We are mainly doing this for financial reasons. I am hoping that we're not going to end up spending as much on ecigs as we do on tobacco and analogues.

Great forum btw. Just been browsing and reading for hours! And vaping (another bit of the lingo learned).

Mary
