So, it appears I must have popped my cherr.... err fuse.

I've been vaping with the IMR 18350 batteries I bought initially with my ePipe and either Smoketec EGO Mega Dual Coils from Mad Vapes or Smoke Tech 2.0 oHm XL Cartomizers from EPM.

I was vaping a new MDC with Longbottom (yum!) with no problems when I decided to switch to Grandpa's Cough Medicine. It was in a MDC that I'd been using for a while (two/three weeks with no tast change, but I'm not on this thing all the time). Screwed it on, swapped tips. Nothing. Nada. Not even a sizzle. :(

I JUST got my LBL yesterday and thought about adding a pack of fuses to that oder but decided to add them when I get a pipe stem. Poop. Guess I'll place an order when I get home.

So, question is who's replaced their fuse? Is it easy? Or should I send this back to Matt?

I watched the video. Does the ring pop out? From the video, I'm assuming it does.

Edit to add: AAAAAAAAND, I just remembered I have a DCT, some new tips, and other stuff coming tomorrow. :( I might have to find a vape store in Baltimore and get an eGo or something. Good thing I'm working from home tomorrow.

I wish I could answer more of your questions but the one I can help with is the ring. Yes it does come out. I think it is super glued in (or something similar). I just popped mine out to see what would happen. It took a little force but not much.

The rest of the operation really isnt in the vid. A lot easier with the parts already out of the pipe I would think. Not sure the process of stuffing it all back together.

I would probably just send it to Matt.

Im just hoping I never blow a fuse. I hook everything up to my provari before connecting to the pipe since it will let me know if there is a short before it happens.

I should have tossed those fuses in with my last pipe sauce order. Woulda gotten the free shipping then. Maybe I'll have to add that pipe stem to my order ot fuses.

I've got the cash in my wallet--leftover from a trip I took and "off the books" as far as the wife is concerned. If she sees another credit card purchase so soon after the last one (this past week), she''ll kill me.

It looks pretty straightforward, as long as you cut the leads on the fuse to the correct length. My only concern is getting the ring back in correctly and clipping the lead close enough so it doens't stick up. Maybe get a small file to file it down close.

Ok, yeah I just removed my perfectly good fuse lol. You indeed dont need to remove the innards, just the ring. It is easy after all. You just need some good clippers to cut it down close. I just didnt understand before but now I do.

EDIT: Now that I look at it I dont even thing there is any super glue. I cant tell. I know the V1's I have had some glue but this v2 either has very little or none at all. Im sure Matt will confirm when he can.

I think it's a sealant or wax that's just sort of dripped into the battery chamber.

I'll get my order for fuses off tonight!

Well, Good news, everybody! I checked Craigslist for a local vendor to pick up a quick eGo. There's one about an hour away. However, he's going out of towm tomorrow and I can't get down there. A few pleasant e-mail exchanged and he's just going to mail me one of his older model eGo batteries to tide me over.

definitely get a decent backup :2c: I learned the hard way ... that's how I ended up with 2 Lavatubes

bought a mod from a well known mod maker, it failed in first 30 days, I didn't have a backup except for some old Joyetech 1,000 mah, 3.7 batts, which just didn't cut it after going variable voltage ... almost bought some good cigars to tide me over, I hadn't smoked tobacco for over 2yrs at that point, so instead I bought my first $50 Lavatube

I paid for return shipping 3 separate times over a period of 90 days on my variable volt mod repairs, all free, and the 4th pcb they put in worked :glare: I got the vice-president of the company to put in writing that if I ever had another pcb failure, no matter how long out of warranty, they would replace it for free, basically free lifetime pcb's ... unfortunately, I ran over that mod with my tractor, so there went that lifetime perk

I bought a different model from the same company and also had to send it in within 30 days ... during the same time my variable volt was in the mail, my Lavatube failed  which that company quickly replaced with a new one ... while waiting, I puchased my 2nd Lavatube, different company, only $40 this time

since early this year, my newest vv has been working great, fingers crossed ... and now I have 2 Lt backups and an e-pipe ... my point is you can't have too many backups ... if you have luck like mine

best luck

Ouch! That hurts!

Lucky for me, vaping is more of a novelty than a habit. I'd been smoke-free for several years before I go tmy SI Volt, and that was to vape 0mg and keep me from buying a pack while out of town on a trip.

I did get the LBL in 6 proof, just for a little nostalgic throat hit, though.

Lavatube is definitely going to go on my to-buy list for driving or desk vaping. That is, if I don't break down and get a ProVari. :glare:

Test with a meter first as it might not be the fuse, the fuse might not be making contact with the ring up top. you can move the fuse around a bit if it's not (this happen to mine) could be the button also, take button out and use a pc of wire even a paper clip will work. Touch the top positive on the battery and touch other end of wire or paper clip to the ring and see if it fires.

tbh, the lavatube that replaced my first one has worked flawlessly, almost as good as my double the price vv mod ... my high-$ mod draws easier, which I like, but it's not digital and uses stacked batts ... however, it delivers better taste than any other mod I've tried ... I can remove the tank, same cart, same juice, put it on my LT and the taste is muted ... I believe that has to do with how the power is delivered, buck, boost, or power width modulation ... I could be wrong, but there is a definite fall off in taste with the cheaper mods

I think I will appreciate my pipe even more once I get a booster in line

Yeah. That's why I need to get a PV with a meter. Yet ANOTHER thing to get. :p

I noodled around indide and it does look like everything is making good contact. I bridged the battery contact to the ring with a paper clip. No dice.

That could just mean the fuse is not making contact with the ring, the fuse just threads true a tiny hole in the ring, i use a tiny screw driver to pry the fuse a bit and wala mine work. its worth a shot

Hey everybody! We've got new product up on the site. Pipe Wax, Leather pouches and Drip Shields! More to come tomorrow. Also, we've got 4 of Brian's pips going up for sale tomorrow. He's growing up so fast:laugh:!

Yup, Im excited to own a "Brian" myself. Are you going to specifically label the pipes so that we will always know if we are buying one of his pipes as opposed to one created by you, or are they all just going to be ePipeMods? I still think it would be cool if you guys had your own signature mark on the pipes. I have a glass blowing friend and I know all the art is distinguished by a mark but all sold on the same site from the same company.

Man, I wish the bags had a logo, I love repping ePipeMods. Im gonna get one soon anyhow, with some wax.

Thanks for the new products and the constant innovation. Its been so much fun following the progress you have made, and so fast. There is always something to look forward to from your company. :headbang:

In regards to fuse issues-
we are currently working some new shtuff that will help to make all this better...
It's only a few weeks out from hitting the site and the product is actually already on my desk.

The VS2 or VapeSafe 2 is a auto reset PCB fuse. It will be hard wired in every pipe and function as the positive post at the bottom of the bowl. Essentially if you have a short, the VS2 will break the circuit. Once the short has been corrected the VS2 will automatically close back and the pipe/mod will function normally again.

This has been under hard R&D since early June. So far it's working like a charm. There are of course certain circumstances that will destroy the VS2. Essentially a prolonged exposure to short conditions (say 10 seconds in the firing position).

We are also looking for the same resettable to make available for the current V2 pipe fuse replacement. I will keep you guys up to date on what we find.

Anyway, if you've read the last several posts, it should be abundantly clear that Murphy's Law is unkind (to say the least) and you can never be without enough spares. Typically if I'm going out for an evening I carry at least 1 spare pv and atty. if I am traveling I carry 2 spares of everything.

More to come on the VS2 and we should have videos soon as well :)
