I am new to all of this, but I ordered a volt starter kit for my mother in law, and I figured since I was trying to get her to make the switch that I ought to get something to try myself. After reading lots of reviews and recommendations on this site, I bought the Volt for her, and an ePower for myself. Upon arrival I tried both of them because I will have to teach her how to use everything. The volt is very user friendly and tastes great. Personally I found the automatic cut off to be a little to quick. I also felt that the prefill Cowboy cartos actually taste like grape. I think it will be a great device for her and I am looking forward to handing it off and explaining how everything works. The big problem is that I am completely unhappy with the ePower right now. I like how it assembles and operates, but the stuff it shipped with tastes terrible. I tried switching the atty out and also tried a different cartridge thinking that maybe I just had a bad combo. It's flavor is reminiscent of chewing on a burnt cigarette and it burns terribly. I am wondering if I did something wrong. The attys looked clean when the kit arrived, so I didn't try to clean them. Don't even really know how. I know that the bad flavor may just be the flavor of the prefills, but I have not eliminated the possibility that I screwed something up. Any one have any advice? Would cleaning the attys help, or have I already messed them up by not cleaning them? If I need to clean them, how should I go about doing so? Would I do better to get cartomizers instead of the atty + cartridges that it came with? What kind of carto is compatible with the ePower? I want to like the ePower, but right now I am wishing I had bought myself a volt as well.

Well if you read through "The Wonderful World of vaping" in the ECF Library it'll answer a lot of your questions. As far as the flavor is concerned if they shipped with Flue Cured Tobacco flavor, I still don't care for that one either, see if you can get some 5 or 10ml sample bottles of different flavors and try that.

Interesting, where did you purchase your e-power from? My one came with empty cartridges and the only other vendor of them that could find in the uk here also sells them with empty carts...

When I say carts I mean the old school polyfiller wool type. To use these you'll have to fill them and drip a few drops of eliquid on them. Don't go vaping empty polyfilbre cartridges, it'll taste horrible and likely all you'll get is primer fluid from your atomiser!

Any 510 cartomizer will would with the e-power btw. Dual coil LR ones work very well with them.

Most likely you might just not like the flavor of the carts you received with your e-power.
Easy way to clean them is simply blowing them out, drip 6-10 drops of pure VG into the atty,
(100% USP Glycerin from drug store = VG), heat it up with your e-power and blow out again.

The cartos you received with the Volt are top notch, bottom coil vapor makers..:)
You can put them on your e-power also with a simple cheap adapter, 510 to 901/808-D Adapter
Get some blank Volt cartos, fill them with a juice you like and use them on your e-power, best of both worlds - good battery life and good carto. :vapor:

I've heard good things about the e-power. Prolly not much different in performance than, say, a Riva or some such. So, I agree with the above.... change the flavor, clean the atty, whatever.

Remember to blow the primer out of a new atomizer before use too.

Make sure the atty is not too dry... if so you will get "Nasty Burnt Taste". The cart should look like a slushy. Or drip a drop or two of liquid directly into the atty, right on the bridge to prime it.
