Just curious, how many ohms are folks with a Grand vaping an ERA at?- not VVGrand but regular grand (with a 3.7V battery)...
I just made a coil but wow- it's hot...measured it and it's at 1.2ohms...I'm thinking a bit too hot. I used 30 kanthal gauge wire- w/ 4 wraps...maybe I should use the 32 gauge, but whenever I do 4 wraps, I'm up past 2ohms...I think 3 wraps is not enough surface area. Any suggestions? I'm without my VV Reos but want to enjoy the ERA I got in the mail today. I also have 28 gauge wire to use but haven't used it much.

It is trial and error for what you like. What I did was to order multiple wire gauges from stormysvaporcellar and made coils like crazy with all of them. Wrote down notes, or else I wouldn't have a clue to what I had done. It is like finding the perfect all day juice and completely DIY. Your taste, throat hit and vapor production. Then off to find the gauge of choice on the internet to purchase a spool.

I'm trying to decide if I like the SS mesh for these its great in a genesis because its sitting in a tank full of liquid and not much chance of getting a dry hit but with the SS mesh and a ERA forget to squeeze that little bottle you'll swear your VVG is trying to kill you

That and the fact that you don't have anything sitting on the bottom of the atty to get the juice to the mesh. Guess you could put some wick in the mesh and have the tails droop on each side. But if I am going to do all that I will just stick with the wick.

Put me down too for wondering about the safety of using 96% aluminum content materials for wicks. I'd be very interested in reading your review after having used this stuff.

I needed to replace the wick on my Chalice tonight, so I thought I'd give the ceramic a shot. I torched it several times until it glowed red. When I was wrapping the coil around it, I noticed it was shedding all kinds of little fibers. So it went right in the garbage. Hopefully I can use the rest to sleeve a real skinny wire someday.

Yep, a few of us tried that stuff way back with the Iatty, I have about 1/2 of a roll that needs to hit the trash.

As a squonking newb (it's been years since I've used a BFer) I find myself flooding my setup often which temporarily leads to wimpy hits. There must be a setup that minimizes the flooding effect. Shorter wick maybe? I'd be curious to see exactly how the folks who have used an ERA for a while are setting up their wicks.

I was a blind skuonker, used to the gurgle feedback....I took the drip tip off and would look down in the ERA and count till I felt like there was enough juice......so far it's working well....I only flooded it once this morning as I am so accustomed to hearing the gurgle....not enough coffee yet lol I am sure within a couple of days I will have it down.

I fixed the ERA. I machined the 510 Connector down to the proper size.

strprswpr Nice work, I was going to do that to mine over the weekend.

So you used the lathe and took of 1mm right? What bid did you use.

I took it apart, chucked the base on my lathe. And took off whatever was needed. I used a Boge Carto as my gauge and then took a hair more off. Your gonna need a 510 die to correct the threads. I got mine on ebay.

Nice, Do you have the link to the Die so I can get one ordered. I should have one around any way.
Would love to find a 510 Tap as well.
