I'd say it's a total toss-up. The insides are the same....so it comes down to styling. I was thrilled when the Hornet became available because it fits my Mini REOs. So....if you intend to put your rba on anything besides a Grand, then the versatility might be something you care about. I prefer the looks of the Hornet....sleeker...but that's just a personal preference.

Getting away from any wick that can burn or the silica that may have health implications?
I just got a sheet of SS mesh that I want to try next time I build a coil...oh, and there's also the ceramic mesh, right? Seems like that might be a good alternative. Or maybe Alice tried these and didn't like them?

Haven't tried SS or ceramic with any of our BF RBAs, yet. So little time lately life is just easier using silica so I don't have to rewick daily, like I have to do using the natural wicks. Have a square of 400 SS and plan on hitting Dan up for some ceramic to try.

This is perfect and I will be give this a try real soon thanks Quigs:)

Hello Quigs, I see that you have a Bogger Box. Did you have to modify the well cup to use your ERA? I just got a Hornet that I use on my mini REO. I screwed it into my Mini Bogger and it does not fire. Did you adjust to make atty/battery contact? I have a Surface on order for my Bogger, I hope it fits.

Ya, those inner bevelled drip cup's on the Boggers are a pain...I have 4 of them, one of my VV's I ordered new from Mr. Bogger himself, I got him to make my drip cup straight walled but on the 3 I got off the classy's???...they all seem to be a little different. I managed to get them 2 to work just playing with o rings but on one...I build mods and have lots of little bits and pieces kicking around, what I did (which started as just a temp. solution) was take a one of the silicon insulators from a 510 conn, cut a little off so it wasn't so long, and stuck a tiny SS nut in it...almost like a tiny wheel and tire if you can imagine, and dropped it in the Bogs 510 conn...still lots of thread to grab (plus a center hole for juice) but it bought me about 1mm of height, which is perfect because I just stuck another o ring under the ERA to take up the gap...worked so good it's become a permanent solution.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but what is the trick behind the copious clouds of vapor that the ERA can produce...as seen on the youtube videos? Is it engineering, coil construction, the wick, what?

I have a Reomizer and Vision Eternity, plus an ERA on the way (maybe today!). Is it better engineered to vape than other rba's? the youtube video of the girl with the ego twist battery is amazing. i doubt my lungs can hold that much!!

Whodoo personally I think it boils down to airflow! The proximity of the air hole to the coil, maybe chamber size, etc. I will say that my A7 that's been drilled out for side air produces just as much vapor, as do my genesis atomizers (all side air). I've also noticed with the ERA that the if I rotate the cap a bit so that that air hole is to the far side of the coil, but in effect closer to it, I get more vapor. Found the same on my dream RBA (Fatty knock off).

Excellent, thank you. I've read posts about drilling the hole open a bit, but until your post I wasn't certain if people were drilling the bottom hole or the side hole.

I only have a Reomizer at the moment, but due to its threaded top I can't adjust the air hole to align w/the coil. i'm really looking forward to the ERA.

Another thing that will add to big vapour production is increase the size of the air hole...you have to judge for your self as to what type of draw you like, I've come to like an airy draw (just takes some getting used to)...one of the ERA's I got was a V2, it has a 2 tiny air holes opposite of each other, I tried it stock for a while (I have to admit I thought about doing that myself more than once) but at the end of the day I filled one with some JB and bored the other out to my usual...but...the biggest boost in vapour production I've found is in your coil...there's a guy on here called BJ who came up with the 30 awg or 28 awg oval coil...it effectively doubles the surface area of your wick/coil facing the air hole...it's why all I own now are ERA's and A7's

What is the trick to get the top part off the lower part on a new ERA?

My new one is soaking in soapy water right now, but even gripping the ERA base w/a pliers I couldn't pull the top off or even twist it.

Sorry, I'm used to threaded tops & don't want to harm the little ERA. Any assistance is appreciated.

If you have an old e-go battery, (doesn't every vaper have at least one?), screw it on the battery, fold a piece of cloth over the flared top of the ERA, grasp with a pair pf pliers and wiggle it while gently pulling. (Sounds like a script for a porn movie.) It'll come right off.

Don't squeeze the pliers real tight, you don't want to bend the top.

I screwed mine to my REO and pulled like hell. Then once I got it off, soaked the whole assy in alcohol. Air dried it, built it, then used a qtip to put olive oil on the Orings. A lot easier to get off.

The hornet I got today slid right off. There was some kind of lube on it. Surely didn't survive my alcohol bath though.

I have a few ERA's and the tightness of the top caps is real hit and miss, I mic'd a loose one and a tight one, with mine it was the o ring dwells that where the culprit, I spun it on an 510 extension and chucked it up in a batt drill and took a small diamond file to the o ring dwells (just do a tiny bit at a time)...right as rain.

I had to attack the damn thing with military force, not fun. I lubed up the orings w/a little nic juice but will wash it off.

The wick is still breaking in, but it is a vapor machine. Drilling the air hole doesn't appear to be difficult, but as is the draw is just fine. Not airy like the Reomizer.

The flavor is fantastic.

For the maiden voyage I haven't torched the 2mm wick, but for the first time I boiled the silica wick a while before installing it on the coil.

I ordered a bunch of DIY supplies & now have bulk wicks and coils, so I can play around. I've even boiled cotton balls & a few cotton strips of gun cleaning cotton patches to experiment with.

Have to say this the first time I haven't tasted wick. Do not say that fast 5 times!!

Srsly glad I purchased the ERA. The flavor is all there, nothing else added. Very enjoyable.

I know what you mean I have 2 ERA's and they're permanently attached to my VV Reo's:)
