The Tobeco, Infinite and EHPro kayfun 4s are pretty freaking awesome.

RtotheK, someone will be along to help. I know Jax can. I haven't done any nickel builds due to an allergy.

I'm trying o go more and more authentic, but when there is a really good clone of something, its hard not to get the clone, I admit. Especially if its non logoed.

I own an authentic kayfun 4 and want a good clone of it as well, how do you like that one?

Seems the consensus has been:
1) Infinite: probably considered the best at a premium of like $10
2) Tobeco: the best value with like zero issues
3) EhPro: had some early problems, mostly corrected
4) misc. fasttech: mostly ok. Some have oring leaking problems (some of the red oring ones) and/or crunchy threading

I'll have to look those up. Thanks for the info. I also have a squape no logo clone coming from EHPRO. I got it in but the chimney was missing from it so ecigity is sending me a chimney. I hope the square works with temp control. I want to get a vapor flask, haha but since I already have a DNA40 I guess I'll wait for the DNA 50 from vapor flask, or I hope higher wattage, whenever that may come out.

Hello? A guy is having a problem with an erlp and you keep talking about the k4? Great friends.... [emoji14]

I just got in the erlprinz 2 days ago and am using it on a dna 40 mod I built. I have been trying all day to try to get this thing to wick but keep getting temp protect. I'm using 28 gauge nickel wire with kojando and putting the wick half way down the juice well, very little amount. I also am using a ibtanked glass tank on it. I've been working on this thing all day and just can't get it to work, so frustrating. Thank you all ahead of time for the help.

A few pics of your build would help. Try to cut off the tails that go down the well. They are probably too thick. Remember that most pics here of erlk builds are made with rayon which compresses under use. Other types of wicks tend to expand.
Make sure you have high shoulders on the wicks end.

Tony

Have to tell you guys (and gals) that I may be going over to the dark side. I've been hitting on an Infinite Kayfun V4 clone for 4-6 weeks and it is just fantastic. Without doubt the best atomizer I've ever owned. I'm a stickler about flavor and the ability/ease to rewick or rebuild when mid-tank is a killer feature.

Don't want to start a religious wars but did want to pass on for others who might benefit (and just ordered a second). Okay, back to regularly scheduled programming.

Whatever works to help keep you off the stinkies is an awesome atty in my book.

I own an authentic KF4 and authentic Erls. I prefer the Erl over the KF4 mainly because of the restrictive af in the KF4 and I have the 4S kit installed in the KF4.

To each his own. Enjoy borther!

When I purchased my first Erl I struggled tremendously to get it to wick properly. That was with kanthal and rayon. I like heavy vg juices (70-80%) and an airy draw, both hindrances for wicking.

The vertical channels in the Erl are there for use with silica wicks imo. Initially, when I wicked it, I was putting wick down those vertical channels almost to the bottom of them. I then tried only going about halfway down. That was better but still led to dry hits and priming. My current preferred wicking method is to not put anything down the vertical channels and it has been working perfectly for me.

One other thing that I do that I believe helps with wicking is remove the "wick ring". It seems like that ring would tend to trap bubbles from escaping. It is my contention that the ring is actually used to hold silica wicks in place when screwing on the chimney and therefore, useless with other wicking materials.

With kanthal, I was using 2mm ID contact coils. With Ni200 I am now using 3mm ID spaced coils.

I'm not sure if you've seen these images or not so I will post them here again for you. Dual twisted 30g nickel, 3mm ID, 8 spaced wraps, wicked with rayon...

Cheers to everyone or whoever posted about the FT quartz tank glass fitting (it may of been roxynoodle) the white and green box clone FT sold.

Seems to fit and work perfectly nice having a glass nano.

I just don't have much time these days and still stuck in evolv DNA hell which is demotivating so to recycle some of my vapegear parts is great.

Jax, that looks crazy, I'm too nervous to try anything like that (30g twisted ni200). It is less wraps, I think I was going with 9-10 wraps for my build that wouldn't wick. I have drained that tank probably around 10+ times yesterday trying to figure out my wicking. You know what, I'm gonna try the "having no cotton down the wells" thing today hopefully and see what happens. I just about quit on the erlprinz yesterday. The 2m wide open airflow is nice, I got the 4s kit for my kayfun 4 in last week. I heard there is an updated spring we can get for free from our vendors for the k4. Vaperev told me I had to just pay for shipping and each additional spring is $3. So if I do get a clone I mine as well buy another back up spring for that too.

I never did twisted before using nickel. The softness of the wire kind of forced my hand. It's actually quite easy but not necessary with kanthal. I mainly just wanted to show you how I wick it to keep from getting dry hits. How'd it turn out for you yesterday?

There is some black magic in wicking the erls for the first couple of times. It's as if the atty is fighting for domination and you just need to show it who's in charge :)

There is yet one technique that I sometimes suggest in more difficult cases but it involves underwear, growling and running in circles so let's hope we don't have to come down to that ;)
