The antifreeze that killed kids and dogs was polyethylene glycol. Some antifreeze producers may have switched to propylene glycol.

Have not bought antifreeze since moving to the desert south west in 2010.

I think you mean Ethylene Glycol not Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)

I was so uncomfortable most of my life with reflux i just couldn't take it anymore.

And by the way, there are quite a number of things I don't eat. And it often seriously impacts the way I participate at social events, but I am used to it now.

I do have people say to me, when I tell them what I don't eat, say "I could never live w/out my ____. , ____., and _____.

But I prefer taking the *disciplined eating route* to the pain I would experience w/the reflux, not to mention the knowledge of what it was doing to my throat and esophagus and digestive system.

I don't know how other peoples maifests, but once the "offending" substance was injested, for ME, it would be a full 3 days before I could get back to normal. That's 72 hours of suffering. (sort of like that expression "a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips") except the digestive chaos caused by eating something that I really enjoy just wasn't worth the few moments of enjoyment.

Anybody can probably do an elimination diet on their own, but it involves careful record keeping and quite a lot of food avoidance, and will take up a year of your life. But it was worth it to me for the years of relief that I am now experiencing and hope to experience for the rest of my days.

OK. i'm now overwhelmed. Too much response. I will be tagging these links over the next few days. I'm an intelligent person (who almost misspelled intelligent, how ironic is that? I caught it before spell check thank you very much!) I just don't want to jump to conclusions or be persuaded. Thank you for your input. I didn't come in here for an argument, I was looking for verbal abuse, is that the room to the left down the hall?

I will certainly admit that my post is a knee jerk reaction born of sadness and fear.

Understandable.

Open dialogue will save us all

Truism AFAIC.

I hope you are able overcome the grief you now feel, and get answers to your questions. There may not be any concrete answers, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look.

There are some good people in this world, be one of them.

A very good quote, something positive for us to be reminded of, sort of like the golden rule or the 10 commandments.

Someone has sold you s line of hooey.

Propylene glycol is not in antifreeze. Read the label yourself it is polyethylene glycol. There is a huge difference

I have been vaping and making my ejuice for a long long time.

Instead of parroting what some self professed expert say turn off Facebook and go to a department store and read labels

Most of the asthma inhalers use propylene glycol as a carrier for the medicine.

Next check the flavor ectracts. The ectracts used to be made with alcohol. They got tire of alcoholics drinking the extracts. Most extracts today are made in propylene glycol.

Vegetable glycerin is used in food as a sweetener, and use it as a preservative.

Vegetable Glycerin is also used in wine production, and soap.

Did you know the nicotine and flavors are also carried by propylene glycol and vegetable Glycerin.

Even the department of health in Great Britan has determined that vaping is 95-98% safer than smoking.

Been smoking a long time. I tried the gum, patches, cold turkey even hypnosis to get off the Stinkies.

NOTHING EVER worked till I found vaping.

Since I DIY my juice I have total control over what goes in my ejuice. By taking baby steps I have weaned my nicotine from 18 mg to 1mg, and in another 2-2.5 weeks I will be vaping NO NICOTINE AT ALL.

scientists used to be trust worthy but now they are nothing but prostitutes. They will rig tests to push a political agenda.

This war on vaping is all about money.

Polyethelene Glycol is, um, Miralax :|

I take 3 doses a day due to opoid induced constipation.

Ethylene glycol is what used to be used in antifreeze.

Wow the Antz really are hitting us hard right now. Must be with the upcoming regulations and the xmas season looming when so many will be away for holidays that they must get their quoto's in on all the forums.

On the off chance I am really off on my thinking then of course I am very sorry to hear about your friend. However who in their right mind would end a post with '
Besides, it's good to be outside, even in a freezing rain, smelling bad with ugly teeth, than giving myself cancer trying to be healthy." Think, read, research. You were born with a mind now use it, you have free will use that as well.
I don't know what antz is. I'm sorry I offended you, or that you think I work for phillip morris. I just don't want to jump onto a bandwagon and find out it's rolling down a cliff. I only came here for answers, or leads to answers. Apparently my question was provocative. Doesn't mean it should not have been asked.

A very dear friend was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in the summer (2015) and has passed already (December). He had tried to quit smoking and had quit but was vaping pretty much continuously. My own e-cig experience has been that it burns the heck out of my throat and gives me a smoker's cough that I never had before. I don't think that cancer ran in my friend's family and I don't have a history of it in mine. My mother has smoked for 60 years and yes she does have mild COPD, but no cancer...as have many others in my family. I worry that in trying to quit the stinkies, are we actually hurting ourselves worse than smelling bad and having stained teeth? Smoking kills, we all know that, but we also know how and why. Since E-Cigs are not FDA approved, are mostly made in China and the delivery medium is usually propylene glycol (component of anti-freeze)...are there any INDEPENDENT studies being done to find if there is a link to esophageal cancer specifically? People get lung cancer that have never smoked in their lives, so one should not always assume that the victim is at fault. Ten years of smoking may not cause cancer, or 60 years for that matter, but the questions become, "What effect does propylene glycol have on the human body when inhaled in vapor form? Does it combine with the nicotine to create a more harmful substance than it would otherwise be? Is it the smoke and tar that causes the cancer, or the nicotine itself? Does anyone know?" I would truly like any links that you may have to any research on this subject that is not sponsored by special interests and corporate dogs. My friend's body has been donated to the CSI school at UT Memphis and I don't know if they are going to look at the cancer issue or not...that is my next email...I'll let you all know what I find out. As for me, I'm laying off the e-cig until I can find out more about what it is that I'm actually inhaling. Besides, it's good to be outside, even in a freezing rain, smelling bad with ugly teeth, than giving myself cancer trying to be healthy.
i won't bother to read the 64 other responses.
??? Cancer?
On the off assumption we do not have a clue here, what's your point?
Sorry about your friend.
Regards
mike

Final thought for azplumber...
"No matter how strong he seems, he's as weak as any other man."
An old woman named Avis Hosemann told me that. She has passed but she left a mark on me and many others. Everybody's tired of somebody's crap-including yours. There are some good people in this world, be one of them.

If you'll point me to the crap I'll clear it, it's what I do.

I rarely burn the back of my throat. I'd say if I vape all day, every day, for a week, I may get a dry hit ONCE b/c I'm not paying attention, and it quickly dissipates.

As far as the contents of the juice goes... DIY. Buy USG VG, and add a low level of nictoine, and have at it. That is about as pure as you are going to get. Note that PG is in many things you already eat. Google it.

Great that the body was donated.

I didn't know there was a war on vaping.
Yes, there is, and you may have inadvertently walked onto the battlefield waving the wrong flag

Keep reading here and you will learn the details. It's mainly a propaganda war at this point and you may come to understand it, and the reactions to your post. "Antifreeze" was and still is a key word in that war. Among other words.

No biggie, "we" (which now includes you!) are, for the most part, pretty well-informed, and passionate about vaping. And some of us can be a little sharper in our replies than others when we see someone that's unfortunately gotten some bad information.

Yes, there is, and you may have inadvertently walked onto the battlefield waving the wrong flag

And some posters here may have inadvertently been abrasive and rude to a potential new member who we can help, and jumped the gun on her...she someone who can in turn, help others.

This is how new members, who innocently come on here to ask questions (as she said, this SEEMED like a good place to ask) get chased off, because they are treated like ANTZ......when they're not.

Then we have true "vaping ambassadors", like Susan S. who truly want to help people learn about vaping and doesn't judge people or push the political agenda on them and provides INFORMATION which is what most people are looking for.

I say don't treat poeple like trolls and antz until it becomes clear beyond the point of any doubt that they are.

Thank you all so very much and my apologies to anyone I offended.
wasn't offended at all, some media and governments are telling people things that are blatant lies or misconstruing the evidence, we deal with it quite often actually, other governments are saying completely different/positive things like england..
