Has anyone tried both the LR and SR on a VV unit? The wife and I both use VV at about 4.2V so maybe we are better off sticking to the SR units?

I've used both on a Piper-D (Ego-compatible 3-stage passthru). I rarely go above 3.3V (lowest setting) with the LR, and usually set it to 3.7V for the SR. I've tried the SR at 4.2V but I find it can get a bit of a burnt taste (YMMV).

I hear ya. Each juice can taste different depending on the volts and ohms in play. For some reason both our fav juices taste better at slighty higher voltage.

The wimpy wicks that the Stardust comes with can't wick fast enough to handle higher voltages so hence the burnt taste. If you use a double wick it can handle higher voltages.
Thanks for in insight! Bad is offering free wick & wire so I'm going to try my hand at rewicking a couple of these after I received my next order.

I just thought of something. If we're rewicking and re-coiling the stardusts, won't that have to do with the resistance? Say we wrap the wick 3 times with the coil, is that the lower resistance? Or is the resistance dictated by something else? I'm so new to pv's that I have no idea. Not sure what makes the different resistances.

When it comes to the coils on carto's there are 3 main things that effect the ohms. Length and diameter of the wire. The resistance of the wire itself is the 3rd and is dictated by the actual materials used in the wire.

There are tons of threads out there talking about this but here is a recent one talking specifically about the Ego Vision carto that you will find all the info you need and then some.

edit: FYI, I use Nichrome80 wire and found that with 5 wraps around a double wick I get roughly 2.4 ohms with 34 ga wire, which was my target range.
