Hi from the other Norway (Minnesota).

I switched over and never had another cigarette after smoking 30+ years. I thought it was really easy at the time, compared to quitting any other way, but I did have some problems (see below) that I didn't acknowledge until later - thankfully this happy group got me through the bad times.

As far as quitting, the biggest downside for me was carbon monoxide withdrawal. I never want to experience that again. I felt spacey, I couldn't think straight and my blood sugar levels were all over the place for about a week. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if I didn't have vaping to get me through it. I now believe, at least for me, that I was addicted to carbon monoxide much more than nicotine because I have successfully lowered my nic level from 18 to 12 to 8 mg without feeling any different.

The other downside is once you realize vaping works, you can panic with the thought of knowing you can't get what you want/need at the nearest store. Then everything is about waiting for the mail and calculating how long what you have will last and worrying about something failing and what you're going to do if it does.

I'm at the point now where vaping is easier than smoking and I really enjoy it rather than hating myself for every cigarette I had to have.

Good luck! I hope you love it as much as most of us do.

It looks like it sort of does. But honestly, I'm not too happy about that part.

It doesn't have to become a hobby. Really, vaping becomes whatever you want it to become. It may take some experimentation at first to find a combination of device, atty/carto and juice that ticks all the boxes for you, but once you're there, whatever it becomes after that is entirely up to you and your desire (or lack thereof) to continue experimenting and trying new/different things.

Vaping is what you make it.

I'm on day two with my ego tank and sparkplug. I'm so happy, I haven't even thought about going back to analogs! I smoked 2 packs a day for almost 20 years. I'm having fun and feel better already. My kids are happy too. I can vape in the house knowing I'm not harming them, never did analogs in the house or at work, and I get so much more work done and can spend more time with my family. Live you guys and this forum.... You saved my life!!!!!

Don't be afraid of getting "hooked" all over again! I've read about people who have used vaping as a MEANS to quit smoking and do not continue vaping afterwards.
My wife was afraid I'd traded one vice for another (even though it is a much healthier vice) but I don't see it turning into the "ball and chain" addiction that analogs were for me, checking all the time if I had enough cigs to last me till the next day, lighting up whenever I had the chance, midnight runs to the gas station, etc..
You can use it as a means to quit, lowering your nicotine dosage as you go, until you don't need it anymore (that's where I'm going with this, too!).
My plan for the future, (after getting off the nic) is to use it only occasionally, to relax and unwind on warm nights out on the porch watching the fireflies dancing through the lazy clouds of vapor exhaled from my being... Inner peace... I can't wait!
Vaping is what you make it.
Wiser words were never spoken.
