Hello,
I received my Evic Primo SE from fasttech a week ago and until now there were no problems.
Until today, where I noticed strong and strange heating of the upper part, exactly under the button and around after just one longer click. Battery is not hot after this.
I use mod on VW mode, 18-22W, 0,5 ohm.

Is this a general problem or just a factory defect that appeared a few days after use?

AWT 3,7 3000 40A
yep, charging in device, unforunately i don't have charger ;/
Topper is GeekVape Ammit.
Battery used for 3 years, always charged by usb (is it really bad?)
When mod is getting hot, battery does not

In my opinion - i don't have big experience, i would say i don't have at all - maybe because mod is small and made from metal and just getting hot faster than my old VTC mini?

The AWT is not a bad 20A cell, but after three years it may be time for a pair of new batteries.

Do you notice any black scoring on the battery or the mod contacts?
I would think the battery and mod contacts should be as clean as possible and free of build up or skin oils. A bit of ISO and some paper towel may be all you need.

I replace my batteries after 12-15 months of use. (approx 400-500 charge cycles) YMMV

Cheers

I have no idea really, but if it was fine at first, and started happening a while in, I'd have to guess the mod, honestly. If your batteries run fine in other mods, I'd especially have to guess it's the mod.

I mean, perhaps the particular design of that MOD paired with older batteries may be exposing SOME issue that was always there and etc., but it's certainly not Occam's razor, that explanation. Not even close.

I'd say return it if it's under warranty and not a known "issue of the mod,."

That Doesn't sound like Normal behavior at all. And a Big Red Flag that Something is wrong.

And If I was you, I would start a Ticket with FT ASAP.

BTW - Welcome to the ECF.

Currently the biggest problem for me is that there are no topics at all for Evic Primo SE, idk why...
I do not want to return it because the duration of the whole process is too long for me, it took a month to get to me ;/
There are dark streaks around the battery from bottom, like shadow or something. Little visible. Is it bad?
I will test it and see, maybe it will pass, or I will buy a new battery, maybe i will wait for new topics from people who have problem like mine.

Do you recommend any good batteries for this mod?

    Where are you located?
I use Samsung 25R and or 30Q in my 75-80 watts devices. Average watts used is 25W.

If you need 40W or more, a two battery device is a better choice.

    Cheers

I have to disagree with Izan. That particular battery by AWT is extremely over-rated. According to Mooch's bench tests, it is a 15 amp cell, not 40A. However, three years of regular use of any battery is well long enough; time for new batteries. I also recommend getting a decent inexpensive battery charger such as the Efest LUC. The USB port is really designed for downloading firmware updates for your mod's circuit board and charging infrequently; it's better overall to charge batteries with a dedicated box Li-ion charger.
Do you recommend any good batteries for this mod?

Choose the batteries for a regulated mod based on the wattage settings that you use on the mod, and the amp or current rating of the battery. I suggest only buying batteries from the Big Four battery manufacturers: Lg, Samsung, Sanyo, or Sony. See videos below.

WATTAGE PER SINGLE BATTERY on REGULATED MOD:
(Total wattage produced doubles when using two batteries, triples using three batteries.)

I am from Poland, so there is a problem with any equipment bought throught the internet after various anti-smoking laws ;/
So if you want cheaper eq than normal price you have to buy gear from fasttech or any other sites. But batteries are not problem. I don't need two battery device cuz i hardly ever dont exceed 25W.

Well, it's time to go to the store and buy a VTC6 probably, I've already looked for this battery, but I waited because I had the current AWT.
I still have another battery efest 2500 20/35, but I just don't trust efest, idk why.

Thanks guys for help, i will write after buying a new battery if something has changed in use :)

The eVic Primo kinda had a Turbulent start. Because the Original eVic Primo had Terrible Problems with Battery Life. And assorted Quality Issues.

Hence the release of the Primo SE (Second Edition). Which was supposed to Cure all the problems.

Unfortunately, many People reported that the Battery Life of the SE was Better, but still Not as good as many/most of there other Mods. So the Primo SE kinda just Faded into Obscurity.

Even with the Less than Stellar Battery Life, the eVic Primo SE is one of my Favorite Mods. Because it Fits my Hand like a Custom Made Glove.

Ye, i know that, memes around the internet and other..
I checked mod on efest and it still getting hot so im assuming its not battery problem anyway.
I created ticket on fasttech and waiting for response.

I have one more question guys, if i return Primo SE (I am disappointed with this mod) is it still worth of buying another VTC mini or VTwo mini or there is a something better? I admit I got attached to the mini vtc :c

Only you can answer that question. If you like the form factor, performance, and reliability of a particular mod you have, why not buy another? I have purchased more than one mod of a specific model on a couple of occassions because it had the form factor, performance, and reliability that I enjoyed (ie Provari and JAC Vapour series B DNA75).

You might be able to get a Store Credit. But since you Opened and Used the Mod, FT is Only going to want to give you an Exchange for another Primo SE.

As to getting another VTC Mini or something else, that's kinda up to you.

Looking at it from a different angle, if I did not open the package and did not start using mod, I would not be convinced that there is a problem, maybe if someone else had such a problem and shared it on the internet, I could avoid it, but whatever - life is full of surprises :D

If I can ask one more question, what should be the temperature of mod during charging via usb? Especially from Joytech gear.
In my case, the temperature reaches 55 degrees, is it normal? During vape temp is 36 deegres. Are these temps are okay?

Most of my Mods I use have Replaceable Batteries that I charge using an External Charger. But on the Built-In Battery Mods I have, they get just a little warm.

    55C (130F) seems Kinda High.
