Hey guys and girls.

I'm looking at getting another mod and have two in mind. joyetech eVic VTC mini and Kanger Topbox mini. I currently have a Kanger Subbox mini, the only issue with it, is I got the white one and now it's covered in lots of little nicks where the paint has been scraped off. I knew I should have gone for the black one.

The way I see them individually; eVic has a much better screen and firmware upgrades. Topbox has top filling (Which seems great in my eyes) and I am familiar with the Subbox.

My real question is, can I buy the eVic body, but use the Topbox tanks to get the best of both worlds? I can't seem to find out if the eVic uses the 510 threading or not. Assuming it does, is there any reason I cannot use the Kanger SSOCC or Kanger Clapton coils with the eVic?

Thanks in advance.

The Kanger coils will not weal properly in other tanks. Will leak. Each co. makes it coils for their tanks and each are just a little diff.

It would work with his though. The evic is capable of running pretty much any tank and coil out there, given its under 75w. I have the subtank mini and the evic has no problems running the ssocc or clapton coils in it. The subtank is basically the toptanks less capable older brother.

But yeah the evic mini is a good investment. Versatile, elegant and powerful without breaking the bank too much. I'm running an rda on mine and it's a champ in the 40-50w range

See that's just so messed up cuz on the kanger site it says they are supposed to be SS housing and SS wire, that was the only reason I got them. Glad I only bought 2 coils to try it. Will just stick with my herakles plus coils.

Poorly described and misinterpreted. Purpose - to offer a vw coil and a Nickel TC coil in a smaller SS form factor for higher tank volume.

Guessing you mean you will stick to you Herakles tank. Two different tanks in my eyes. Subtle and performance.

If it makes you feel any better, I've got a black subtank mini that's showing where the paint's been scaped as well. lol

SSOCC coils are SS housing - Kanthal Coil wire - Except Ni200 heads :)

Wait, what? Are you sure?

The Kanger website for the topbox mini kit I just bought says it comes with a ".5 SS coil (stainless steel TC)." The coil itself is embossed with "SS" on its side versus the Ni200 coil which is embossed with "Ni." They're both SSOC coils... Which I thought was Kanger's confusing way of saying the casing is stainless steel for both. But based on the labeling, I thought the.5 coil itself was SS.

There is a ton of confusion around the new "SSOCC" coils.
, Kanger has made SSOCC Coils that do actually use 316L Stainless Steel wires. The SUS316 SSOCC Coils, as they are called, are available in 0.5 ohms resistance. The stainless steel coils, which are etched with the letters “SS” on the casing, can be easily distinguished by its pink seals. The Stainless Steel SSOCC Coils are for use with temperature control devices in TC mode.

Wait, what? Are you sure?
Kanger made a flustercluck of their coil naming with the SSOCC's. ALL of the SSOCC's have SS bodies but the majority use either Nichrome or Kanthal wire, except the 0.15Ω Nickel coil and the 0.5Ω SS316L Stainless Steel coil. Only the nickel and SS316L Stainless can be used TC mode. But there's also a 0.5Ω coil that uses Kanthal/Nichrome, not to be used for TC. Lots of people are getting tripped up by this.
