Yes, same thing, Evo is a branded M401, sold by Intellicig. Could well be that someone will swear on a particular branded version. All I can say, I do not recognize any difference in performance or durability between Intellicig’s Evo and a generic M401 sold by Ruyandirect. Several months ago, Evo was among the first selling with larger volume cartridges, but I think that those became just common. So, you are free to choose, depending on how much you want to spend, how fast you want to have it in your hands, and so on. Since size appears to matter, you might think of an additional 402 battery (smaller, better to hang on lipps, trade off is lower capacity).
PS: they usually don’t burn :D

I also have both EVO and Pilot M401 parts and have noticed differences between them. For me, the black EVO atomisers are better than the white ones and they are both far superior to the Pilot ones (the Pilot ones have bigger holes and give a really loose draw and no throat hit).

On the other hand, my Pilot batteries are loads better than my EVO ones (last longer and have much more consistent switches). Maybe different suppliers get them made to different specs but it could just as easily be merely down to batch variation (especially as SuziQ has experienced the opposite to me).

You're going to need several atomisers and lots and lots of batteries anyway (I need 3 M401 batts or 5 M402 batts for a night out) so I'd say try both (they're all interchangeable) and see which you prefer.
