I have had this problem too, I now carry it in a pocket that is not a close to my body. I think it has to do with heat dynamics and the rising/falling pressures between the two chambers. As the unit gets hot (tested in my hand, my pocket, and sitting in direct sun) the pressure grows in the tank and forces liquid through to the wick material, often flooding it. Then when you take the next hit, it gurgles and I end up eating liquid :(. I have found that if I suspect this is going to happen, I fire it a few times before I hit it, seems to burn up some extra juice. This is just my theory of course, I would love to hear more from others with more experience. This has happened on my Kanger T3s, but less on my MT3. I think it protects from heat changes better than the T3 due to the extra metal between your hand and the tank when holding it or using it.
