I`ve posted a few pointers to people that wanted to know how to rebuild/re-wick and re-coil the lovely Evod :)

They are a handy device to fall back on and some people with Ego`s are limited to them or Pro-tanks because of tech reasons.

I`ve got a batch of them from everyones favourite Chinese store and although they are good enough to do the job, they are still lacking in quality control, (the heads I have are deemed 1.8ohm and vary from 1.8! to 2.3 so nothing dead on arrival but still not strictly accurate.)

So I rebuild them from the bottom up.

For your entertainment here is my run down on how to build a 1.9ohm Evod head.

1st.
Strip it apart! and check you have the required seals and O-rings.
Make sure the threads are good and fit your device!
Then give it a good scrub and wash, warm water and washing up liquid is fine, you don`t need anything heavier such as engine de-greaser or alcohol (hmmmm been tempted to wash them in Iso Propol but I feared for the silicon seals).
Make sure you rinse them well in warm water (the tank as well, this washing lark is for the whole thing).

2nd.
Break it down!
Strip the atomiser into it`s componant parts, right down to the last molecule....joke!;), or at least until you cant break it down anymore.
For a typical atomiser you will have to.....
Pop off the rubber cap.... use a pair of pliers and pull off the post... then moving to the centre pin pull that out...then remove the white rubber insulator.... back to the top and remove the flavour wick then pull the coil out with the wick inside.
You will be left with...
Silicon cap.
Top section with a "V" groove.
Rubber insulator top hat.
Centre pin.

3rd.
Get your self a toothpick, some 30awg Kanthal and some 1.5mm Ekowool, a pair of nail clippers is handy as well.
And build your new coil......

here (hopefully) are the pics :)

ecig 001.jpg This shows the 30awg Kanthal wrapped around a 2mm toothpick. You keep the coil there and insert the whole assembly into the head.

For 1.9ohm I use 7 wraps, I have tried 6 with a space and also a micro coil of 10 wraps around 1.6mm but for purposes I have found this the best set-up for me using it on a Vamo and (more often) on the out and about Egos. I`m a Biker so do need something robust and don`t have the luxury of glove compartments or cup holders ;)

Pull the legs down hard against the toothpick....ecig 006.jpg and bend one over, twist around the pick to lock it in place then wet (lick) the insulator top hat and fiddle it in!

ecig 007.jpg Then do the same with the positive leg and fit the centre pin.
The coil is now in place. Check the resistance, and if your pick is 2mm and your wire is 30AWG Kanthal it should be 1.9ohm.
Now undo and clip the legs with the nail clippers and fit to your device.
I use my Vamo for this and check resistance, then do a flash fire to set the coils. Its very rare that they move but a few flashes lets you know that its all ok.

Now fit the wick which is 1.5mm Ekowool doubled over to make a 3mm wick.
The coil is 2mm and 1.5mm Ekowool is.....er 1.5mm? Nope its not :) at least mine isn`t! Or maybe it collapses and is hollow but I`ve found that it fits nice and snug when pulled through on a thread. Not too tight and can be pushed back through the coil (thats the acid test! If it`s too tight you will be able to pull it through but wont be able to back it out again)
How to get a 3mm (2 x 1.5mm) through a 2mm hole?

ecig 008.jpg just tie a piece of cotton around the Ekowool about an inch from the end.

ecig 005.jpgAnd pull it through :p It will slip through nicely.

All that is left is to add another piece of the 1.5mm Ekowool on top as the flavour wick.
Pop the top post back on and using the nail clippers trim the wick (both wick and flavour wick) level.
Replace the silicon top cap (upside down if you like but I`ve found no difference in vaping with it in any orientation) and finally recheck your resistance.
Fill and vape :).

Thats my way but "your mileage may vary".....sorry being a Brit that bit always make me laugh.. we tend to say IMHO "In my humble opinion" when we want to add a disclaimer ;-).
