Don't quote me on any of this, I'm still learning! (Heads are the same as protank 1/2/mini, so there's still quite a few articles I haven't read yet, I'm sure).

For a basic coil above 2 ohms, wrapped around 2mm silica, 4 to 6 turns of 32 gauge (0.2mm) seems easiest.

Similar construction, under 1.6 ohms, 30 gauge (0.25mm), works out at about 0.2 ohms per wrap (2mm diameter coil) plus a bit for the legs.

I'd like to know the best way to do a simple build for 1.8 to 2.0 ohms! 31 gauge? I've yet to buy myself some of that.

I have seen from 1-3 mm wick and 30-34 gauge wire. Guess I'll have to try all the combinations... darn I'll have to vape even more LOL... :vapor:

For supplies to start with, I'd say get 30 and 32 gauge wire, and 2mm silica. Maybe 1 and 2.5 or 3.0 mm silica as well.

I do 8 wraps of 30g on a 16th in. drill bit for a coil right around 1.8ohm.

Thanks. I need to try again, something must've been 'off' when I tried, because I seemed to need about 10 turns!

I'm winding around 2mm silica and a needle, which comes out slightly larger than 1/16, I think.

For a "conventional coil" (space between the wraps, silica for wick), I do a 5/4 wrap coil with 32 AWG Kanthal D directly around a 3 mm silica wick (with a needle in it, for stability and to secure a bit of "looseness" from wick to coil once the needle is pulled out).

For a microcoil (wraps touching each other, cotton for wick), I do a 11/10 wrap coil with with 30 AWG Kanthal A-1 around a 1.5 mm drill bit.

Both come out at about 2 Ohms +/- 0.1 Ohm.
