When I tried these, I thought that I had found the Holy Grail for my eGo. CE4 clearomizers were my first entry to the eGo system. I thought they were great, but the wicks seemed to taste burned too quickly and they were a bit of a PitA to clean. I decided to give the Evod a try and I loved the flavor, volume of vapor, and ease of cleaning. Lately, I am finding that these things seem to dump liquid onto the battery out of nowhere, without any type of reasoning, despite whether it's a new coil or not (I use it on a typical 900mAh eGo battery, not a VV version). I always make sure that the coil and the base and screwed together tightly and I never let it run dry. However, lately, when the liquid level gets to about halfway, they start leaking liquid like crazy. :?:

What the Hell is going on and what can I do about it? I just want to vape happily. Isn't there anything out there that actually works, so that I can enjoy the experience without the need to turn into a vaporizer technician, who is spending more time troubleshooting the experience rather than enjoying it???

Debbie

Edit: I should also add that this happens with the ProTank as well, although the amount of liquid leaked is much less and it usually happens at about the last 1/3 of the liquid level. WTH?

Check that the "head" is screwed in tightly - EVERY TIME YOU CAN. When you clean or even refill, turn the little ridged thing. I don't know how, but they loosen during use, and I think that's where leaking can occur (assuming you're keeping the tube clear and the base is on tight.
I've been side-by-side testing EVOD, T3-Mini, and MiniViviNovas, and here's where I'm at:

A) EVOD - like 'em, ordered more, got ONE from FastTech and threw it away after 2 refills - the threads weren't smooth and then it got all gurgly and clogged, so I'll pay the extra $1 for real ones.

B) Mini Vivi Nova - I just don't get flavor from these like I do the others. In fact, I seem to get not only muted flavor, but a "metallic" taste added. This MIGHT be only after cleaning, I'm not sure - but I don't like it. I also found that I don't like the draw on the ones with an EGO thread, so I have to use the one's with a 510 connection, and also use a little ring. Not a big problem, but an extra thing to screw on and off all the time.

c) T3-Mini - initially, I had the EVOD preferred, but I am now on day 4 of using two T-3's just refilling and refilling and refilling, with no gurgles or leaks or anything - which is kind of what I'm looking for, after all. The only maintenance is a swoop through the tube with a pipecleaner while filling to get any hint of juice out that's gotten in there - and then it vapes like new. I also had one head start fading in performance and realized, "hey - I can just swap in a new base without even waiting til it's empty". So I did, and it was effortless, and I continued vaping away.

So now I'm back and forth with T3's and EVODs.

With all clearos but esp. the bottom coils because they're bottom fills as well - Tabac, T3, evod, protank... you have to keep and eye on the silicone rings/seals. If any are out of place, leaking can result. With the evod (and T3) it's the 'top' one (when refilling).. the one above the threads that can get out of place. If it drops down into the threading and you screw on the coil, then that ring will get chewed up and can cause a leak after that. When refilling I try to always check the rings/seals. The one on the post is less likely to come off but I've had one come off and end up in the tank and a few dropped to the floor.

If the seals are in place then the it's either a cracked tank - unfortunately with the evods and MT3's that's hard to determine. The tabac, t3 and baby T3 are all clear to inspect. So it's either that or the wicking is different in some way - the wicking has lost diameter by the heat or gunk and too much ejuice is getting through the coil and out the batt connection or the holes in the screw on piece of the clearo.

If it's wicking, you can clean by putting the coil unit into vodka or pga for about a half hour and let dry and restart. OR you can replace the wicking and perhaps the coil.... or add to the wicking.... lots of videos out there on that:

Train2, I got my 1st couple of Evods from Apollo; liked them so much, that I then bought an 8-pack of assorted colors from FastTech because the price was great. So, it may have something to do with their threading, although they work well for the most part (only notice 1 or 2 of them looking a bit 'off' when on my eGo).

propagandax, I've been a (disposable) CE4 lover before I discovered the bottom coils (Evod/ProTank), so it was easy to keep the CEs full because you fill them from the top. Unfortunately the CEs eventually started tasting burnt to me and they are a bit of pain to clean. Bottom coils are far easier to clean, but a pain to keep full, especially if it has a smaller liquid capacity like the Evod. I picked up some of the CE5+ (wickless with replaceable coils) and so far, so good, but I'm detecting a bit of a plastic-y taste (haven't tried many juices in it yet). Is it just me, or is it the clearo?

Thanks for the links, Kent C! I have a couple of old CE4s that I can cannibalize some wick from, so I'll add a bit to an Evod head and see it it helps. I have heads from Kanger & from FastTech and both of them seem to have the same issue, more or less, so it could quite possibly be a design flaw. I have all different blends of juices from different vendors, however, those that I've been using the most lately are 80PG/20VG, so that could also be a factor in my leaking issue.

Recently I've noticed that I've got quite an arsenal of clearos and cartos collecting at home: Stuff that I liked in the beginning to stuff that I switched to when I found something better. This was supposed to be a less expensive habit but it's quickly turning into an expensive hobby of sorts... I just want to vape, damn it! LOL

Thanks so much, everyone! :D

I've never had mine dump any 70/30 on my batteries. I did try removing a wick once which resulted in fluid escaping. Compared to the ce4's I was using before, these are a godsend when it comes to keeping the liquid where it's supposed to be.

Thanks! I may up my VG percentage on a future order and see if that helps. I ordered the 80/20 a while back, due to my using CEs, as I found it wicked better for those.

There was a post on here, somewhere, from a wise person, that explained why they may leak, gurgle or put liquid out through the mouthpiece when the get low. I find that even half down I have to refill some of my Kangers (I have evod, MT3S and Pro Tank). The explanation had something to do with a vacuum (not really a vacuum, but my mind is blanking on me). Anyway, it made good sense to me and I make sure I keep them over half full. Sometimes I combine the liquid from a few tanks into my Pro Tank or my Vision Victory so I can clean the evods and the MT3Ss. I have gotten some very interesting vapes doing this! If I weren't so darn cheap, I could just empty them out but I kinda like the experimenting.

Good luck with these. I don't have a problem with liquid on my batteries for the most part. I did at first, but I am religious about tightening, checking and cleaning. I have found Kanger products as well as this Vision Victory to be pretty hassle free for me. I hope you will find a set up that just vapes without hassles!!!

I am religious about tightening, checking and cleaning.

I am too...

I'm new and just learning a lot of the terminology, here, but I can speak of my experience(s) based on what I currently know. With that being said, please excuse anything that I haven't 1.) caught from previous posts and 2.) recognized that I am repeating something that was said with terminology that I should know, but haven't gotten yet.

I have a Kanger EVOD BC setup and so far, I love it. I am currently using a 100% VG juice, am at less than half full, now, and have had no issues with leaking or gurgling. Except,... today at around half full, I did have some gurgling. Because I want to empty my tank, I've just kept vaping -- for some reason, the gurgling stopped somewhere below half full. I have used 60PG/40VG and 50PG/50VG with no issues so far, and have primarily used coffee and tobacco flavored juices.

BTW... this forum is awesome! I have a ton more to learn, but I'm so far ahead of the game at this point because of CEF!

The only time I had an eVod drain was when I tweaked the wick a bit, causing a small gap between the coil wick and the coil housing. Easy fix.

Otherwise, I've run eVods dry without a drain. It'll gurgle a little juice up into the chamber, but nothing that a quick dab with a rolled up tissue didn't fix.

I do have some CE4s, I prefer my provari but, keep the CE4 and ego batteries handy for house guests that smoke (ha have tip guards to protect my tips form their lips) I instruct them to hit for a count of 2 seconds and draw very lightly, as if trying to suck the smoke off the lit end of an analog. Never had a leak one and, of course all but one of those that have tried them, have bought them and quit analogs. (the one that didn't was a 75 yr old neighbor man that refused to even own a cell phone - technophobe big time but, even he did use the one I offered whenever he visited me for a few hours.)

Yes, you do have to watch the o rings and make sure everything is tightly connected, and vape more lightly than on a cart. but, with minimal attention, they are fine.

I've had the same problems with the T3 and the EVODs. Have about 10 of each with replacement heads/coils. I have found that if you take the coils apart, some don't have flavor wicks and that causes a huge amount of flooding. I've bought silicone wicking and cut a short amount equal to the length of the existing wick and added it. That helps immensely. It does require 'fiddling around' with them. The PITA is that they provide great vapor and taste. So with the investment of the tanks and the replacement heads, I've been motivated to 'modify' them. I hate when I have to refill because I lose juice. Initial fillings don't seem to leak.

I've also found Bauway's SS bottom coil clearo that holds 2ml and fills from the top. They will gurgle when juice drops down to the 1st and then the 2nd hole, but that's an easy fix and they don't flood. The next I've found is the iClear 16 which is a top and bottom coil clearo but only holds 1.6ml of juice. It's a pain, I agree. I don't think there is a tank or clearo that caters to all the needs, i.e., no gurgling, no leaking, holds a good amount of juice, easy fill, etc.

Hope you find one that works for you!
