Ex surgeon general joins njoy board

This is GOOD NEWS for our movement !!

In my opinion ... this signals njoy will do what's necessary and prepared
to oppose lies and ms-information about e-cigarettes. It also signals njoy
will fight the FDA in court, if the FDA attempts any heavy-handed regulations.

" [...] If we can find a viable alternative that gave us harm reduction as people are withdrawing from nicotine, I'm happy to engage in that science and see if we can do that."

Well said, Dr. Carmona. Finally!

The only thing I disagree with is the concept of "as people are withdrawing from nicotine" which is a carryover of the nicotine is like " " mentality.

I tried Zyban (wellbutrin, buproprion, to be exact). I quit smoking for 4 months and became a raving lunatic in the process. My husband and my children (all nonsmokers) finally suggested I go back to smoking.

I believe that having a Surgeon General in our corner may turn out to be a seminal event in our battle for harm reduction. It was another Surgeon General, Dr. Luther L. Terry, who released the first report of the Surgeon General's Advisory Committee on Smoking and Health, which was the beginning of the entire anti-smoking movement in this country.

I realize that he is not a sitting SG, but he can do a lot of good, if he chooses.

Fingers crossed.

Yes, this is huge and could really turn the tide on all the restrictions that local and state governments are drafting. It really deflates the prohibitionists' arguments. If ecigs are as bad as they claim, then why is a former surgeon general a sitting board member of NJOY? When he talks, people will listen. We need powerful people, and Public Health authorities don't necessarily have the resources or respect that he garners.

Great news. The tobacco lobbies and the FDA will stop at nothing to stop us vapers.
I'm sure that they are being to feel the loss in tobacco revenues and ecigs are just beginning to take off.
(There is just too much money in the pot for them to lose.)
I would hate to see the day when I couldn't get ecig supplies.

There is no debate that this is good news. I don't want to be a buzz kill but....I believe it is possible for the FDA to gear regulation in favor of cigalikes like NJOY which will still leave a lot of e-liquid vendors fighting for themselves. NJOY and BLU will only fight the FDA if they have to. NJOY has the perfect business model. Only two or three variations in flavor only to resemble an analog. If the FDA goes and bans flavors and e-liquid in general NJOY will not care and will not fight. We do need to remember all of the small businesses that we support that supply us with all of our e-liquid and APV needs. These mom and pop shops will be the ones hurt by all of this. I never was one to believe that cigalikes were ever in grave danger. Its kind of sad to think the most effective PV's are still the ones that are in the most danger...go figure!
