Greetings everyone!

I've been reading here for about a week and finally got up the gumption to introduce myself. During my daily web perusing, I came upon an article about PV's, (On fark of all places.) The comments section contained many rave reviews about it so I decided to check it out.

That's when I found this place :)

I'm a complete noob to vaping, but slowly teaching myself the lingo. I smoke about a pack of analogs a day, and frankly...I'm sick of it. The smell, the mess etc. Also, I'm a gamer chick so I sit in front of the computer for hours at a time, usually just smoking away. I had a video card die on me, and when I brought it in to find a replacement, the salesperson literally recoiled at the sight of the poor thing, covered in that nasty smoky mess.

I figured before I dove in, research might be a good idea. I don't really have the money to mess up on my choice of a starter kit. As it is, I have to wait a week or so until I can order my first one. So, during that time...I'm trying to learn as much as humanly possible.

(Pauses to light an analog... ick.)

Although some of my time is spent in front of a computer (World of Warcraft, my other addiction)... I am also a petsitter, so I do sometimes spend all day in my car going from visit to visit. I'm guessing for that I'm going to need a charger right?

I know there are few things that are important to me. I know I want good vapor and an easy draw...other than that I'm up for anything. I'm leaning toward the Joye 510, as that seems to be the most popular choice, and I'm ok with being a sheep until I learn more about vaping. (Baaah!)

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm still a little fuzzy about the whole ejuice/drip/mixing etc...but i'm working on it!

Haha another WoW addict - there are several here (I'm on Proudmoore)

For at home at the computer you could use a PT but what are your needs when you are out? And like most people here, I recommend manual batteries. For when you are out - does it need to be small, almost as small as a cigarette (short short battery life), is longer ok (60% ore battery life), or wanna go right for the fat battery models like Ego and Riva or little box mods with very long charge and able to handle heavy vaping?

Hello and welcome. So much to research and learn. I had my first PV before I found this site. That made it a little easier for me I believe.

It sounds like you are well on your way. You have done enough research to not make the usual initial mistakes.

Once you receive your first vaporizer then you can experiment and research mods and e-liquid and any other aspect of vaping that appeals to you.

Believe me it will be easier then.

Best Wishes.

Welcome to ECF. Yes it can be a little overwhelming at first look. Ask for advice in here and read lots about people's experiences. Your first starter kit will go a long way in determining whether you will stick with vaping or not. If you get a good reputable kit, then you "should" find the transition pretty easy. if you get a cheap mall kiosk one or similar, you will most likely encounter issues that will just make it seem all too hard.

There is tons of great advice on here. I am relatively new to vaping so will leave recommendations to others much more experienced than I am, and besides I am in Australia so do not have a great knowledge of your suppliers over there and who to recommend.

Goood luck with it and keep on reading.

(heh, Runetotem here... Ret pally for the win!)

Yes, I'm thinking the manual might be the best for me, but as for the battery I'm ok with shorter battery life. When I am out, its not usually for very long. I can carry an extra battery or two if I don't know how long I'm going to be.

Size wise, I'm ok with it being a little bigger than say an analog 100. I'm not really picky about that as I can adapt. I just don't want one the size of a large fountain pen or a boxy type one quite yet. The pictures of the Joye 510 struck me as being an ok size.

Thanks for the quick replies! :)

Check out the new Volt it fits the size you are looking for and comes with prefilled cartos. It is getting great reviews.
The new generation automatics work great so don't be hesitant to get one. Most of the people that advise against them are going by the older autos and haven't tried the new ones.:2cool:

I'm a new vaper, but I'll throw out my experience in case it helps. I started fairly recently with a Joye 510. It's a nice starter IMO. I wasn't too worried about the shorter battery life, so it seemed like a decent choice. Then I read about the whole 'tank' thing. I decided to give that a shot, and picked up a LR (low resistance) 510-T atomizer to go with my 510. I loved it! The hits were stronger, the flavor was better, and there was less messing around with refilling. It (the LR aspect) also cut battery life down (and I read that it's not good for smaller batteries). So wanting to continue using the tank thing, I went ahead and bought a Riva 510. I'm really happy with my setup now. The battery goes all day, and the hits/flavor are great. Anyway, that's one option that's worth checking out. If you do, I can pass on info on where I got mine... I think I found some good prices.

Nyte...........Hi!! Glad you are making the right choice. Everyone here is leading you in the right direction..you can't go wrong!!!
After a while, after vaping for a bit and digging a little deeper in ECF, You may want to try a different batt or get into the mods etc. It's truly a learning curve.. and the best way IMO to drop the nasty habit. Here at ECF you can get all the info and help you need...... Happy Vaping!!! :)

Welcome Nyte.

<--Zakata, feral tank on Azjol-Nerub...hehe. Have not been playing last couple months much as I started a new job...during raid times of course :(

I started with a 510 and charging batteries all the time was its downfall. A passthrough (PT) was awesome for sitting around at the puter...still used the same atties so I could grab a couple batteries and go.

Juice is very subjective...I still don't have a favorite but a few that are good so far. Try some sample packs and you will find some good ones.

Another thought...go to newegg for your puter parts (and no...I don't work for them but they are amazing price and cs wise).

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and great advice!

(Worldgod-- I do usually use New Egg but I had a raid that night, so it was imperative that I get it fixed ASAP! lol)

So, after more reading and video watching I'm torn between the eGo and the 510. (both Joye) I'm curious how much suction it actually takes to get a decent draw on either of them. Hearing the scuttlebutt seems that both are good for beginners.

But I am a little confused at to what sort of stuff I'm going to be purchasing on a regular basis. Ugh.. I might be into information overload...been reading about this all day.

Nice...and yea...I understand :)

eGo has a bigger battery I believe. (If I'm wrong someone will let us know)

I might be into information overload...

Sort of like reading up on elitistjerks.com huh? lol

Personally, I'd go with the eGo over the 510. (Or a Riva, which is a eGo clone, but cheaper and with a slightly better battery [and still compatible with 510 parts]). Aside from not having to change batteries so much (which wasn't that big a factor for me either), with an eGo (or Riva) you'll be better set if you decide later that you want to try new options out on your new device... like LR atomizers or cartomizers for better hits, or the tank thing for less messing around with juice refills.

Get an ego! Can't beat the batteries.

On a regular basis you'll be buying juice and depending on what you use attys or cartomizers. I use cartomizers.

You can get a Riva ego, at LF for $30. 15 cartomizers for $20 at crystal clear vaping, and juice.
