Man, that's a bit scary, I vape near my computer all the time but I really need it. I just have to wipe down the screen and keyboard every so often.

Of course, it's not an apple product, so I'm probably Just Fine. LOL, no offense to apple (and the two apple computers I've owned in my life, I have loved... to death) but the minute Steve Jobs was out of the picture I was like, "Okay, so it's going to have NO innovation whatsoever and remain a the SAME price.)

He was not a nice man, but he was a rather effective genius. I'll admit to wondering if Stephen Hawking ever gets tired of not being able to use "emotions" when he speaks, and would at times desperately want to smash stuff. He probably distracts himself by thinking, I'd say. :)

I don't know. I think Apple has been working well under Cook. And Ive is still there on the design side. They fell behind on the iMac and Mac Pro but have changed course there. They do need to update their standard iPad. That's way behind the curve.

That said I'm still a PC user. Far better hardware bang for the buck. I will admit I like the iPhone offerings over Android phones. It's always been a bit of a back and forth between them, but the unified iOS environment just makes for a stable platform without jailbreaking the phone as Doonesbury buy it. But that's a pure subjective opinion. There's no doubt Samsung is turning out excellent products and the Pixel and now Pixel 2 are great with a pure Android experience.

I admit I simply will not pay those kinds of prices for an iPhone. So android for me. Plus I won't get sucked into those providers who keep dipping into your pocket for every little thing, or them having to 'upgrade' your phone every 2 yrs or so to not miss out on the latest greatest thing that has come along. I use a service that runs on the Sprint network and get the exact same service Sprint users do, but at a much cheaper rate. Plus I own my phone outright. Works for me.

We had one of those Sprint "legacy plans," it was fantastic.... Until we moved to South Tucson, Sprint's network in the US is pretty lame. We offered to let them put up a tower in our yard for FREE but unsurprisingly, they refused. That was a very hard choice though, we did NOT want to give up that legacy plan. Now we are with Verizon we're paying double, practically, and I refuse any updates on my phone because I'm convinced Verizon is trying to break it. :)

My sis still has a T-Mobile legacy "all the data you want for $4 dollars" kind of thing and she is a lawyer and they tried to pull a fast one and she was Not Happy but certainly Victorious. LOL.

I keep pushing for Cricket, they're so cheap, but they aren't much good outside of AZ, so the husband refuses, at least until all this internet stuff is figured out. I don't miss "roaming" charges, I will say THAT.

I always a either a head shake or a laugh when I pull out my ancient flip phone and paper calendar book while the younger set is checking the ole iPhone - my monthly bill is $34.

I did not even OWN a cellphone until the husband MADE me. I still don't use it for much other than mapquest.

But as far as *I* was concerned, I was perfectly happy to have stretches of time without access to a phone.... Even when my car broke down in a snowstorm and the kiddo was still in diapers, a good Samaritan picked us up as we were walking home. It didn't occur to me to buy a cellphone, although LOL, I did buy my first new car the next day....

The husband MADE me do it by inflicting massive guilt about "what could happen" but I am still totally retrograde. I hate using my phone for anything other than calls or directions, and the damn apps that track you everywhere and want you to "review" stuff-- like one time MapQuest noted I was at the dentist and asked me to "provide information" like was there a covered patio and seats? GAH. Mostly, I use my large laptop for most things, and the kid and the husband were talking about "casting" the cellphone to the TV and whatever else and ARGH. I taught myself to type at age 12 on a typewriter and when we in home therapists were asking for laptops and got given tablets instead? I almost lost my job over it I was so annoyed. Even when I bought an external (full size) typewriter it was SO USELESS for my clinical notation needs. AND they were paying attention to "usage" well, it was faster for me to do it on weekends, going in for a few hours than with that touchscreen tablet-- I eventually turned mine in.

I was 'late' to arrive in the cell phone era.lol. Virgin Mobile is the only cell phone service I have ever had. I travel everywhere and have never had problems. The one and only time I had no service was at Yellowstone and maybe in some parts of Idaho. Other than that its worked like a charm. Now, I will say I graduated quickly from the flip type phones into a HTC and now just over the holidays got an LG Stylo 3. 3 phones in about 8 or so years isn't bad. Also I can purchase a hotspot on my phone for my computer when traveling. I don't trust the hotels free wifi. All for $35 a month plus tax. Can't beat it.

Thank you for the tip, I will check out coverage in Kentucky. I like the hotspot idea. Like you I do not trust "free wifi"

I am starting to see Cricket pop up in most the places I go. Kansas, WV and a few states in between. May want to check to see their coverage now. It may have improved.

I started with cellphones back when they were still analog. The smallest non-brick phone I could fit in a pocket was a Mitsubishi that was real expensive, especially in 1990's dollars and calls ran $1.50 a minute, but I needed it for work so I was stuck with it.

Three prepaid phones like Virgin are good buys but a lot of them, not all, run on Sprint's network which can be patchy in coverage. If it's working out coverage wise they're a good deal.

For me it's feature integration with apps I need for business that aren't consistently compatible with all the flavors of Android and the patchy patchwork of updates pushed out by carriers. Samsung offers some improved security solutions, but they're proprietary which adds another layer on for integration with the different types of setups and makes it tough for me to consult with folks using different IT solutions. For me it's more about work than just a cell. But if not for that limitation, more affordable solutions are out there.
