My wife will vape in public places and people give it a look every now and again..

Speaking of that, I have been enjoying vaping in the car in traffic the last few days. Today I had the window rolled down while my wife was driving. Elbow on the window frame, curled my arm up and vaped away, while waiting for a light. I caught a side glance at the older guy in the car next to me gawking. I get a kick out of that. :))

I kind of wonder why people need to flaunt vaping and expect everyone else to accept it and be ok with it. I feel it is similar to people and their dogs. I get it, you love your dog, but it doesn't mean you get to take it to someone else's house or anyplace public just because owning a dog isn't illegal.

As I said before, I stealth vape to not have these kinds of issues...what people don't see, they can't complain about. Sometimes I wonder if more people did this, would the FDA and every other regulatory agency even give us a second thought.

I also usually vape outside or stealth vape at work just to avoid these kind of problems, but with the coming regulation in the U.S. it may not be such a bad thing for vapers to be as open as possible, meaning vaping openly and informing people so they don't believe all of the nonsense a lot of media spread out..

I am not sure I would believe me...lol. My own doctor can't say ecigs are safe. Yes, I understand that carcinogens are a lot less than a traditional cigarette, but it hasn't been around long enough to tell for sure that this is safe....better for us, yes maybe , but safe? Who knows. Years ago, you would walk into a doctors office and share a smoke while he discussed your health...now that was well before my time, but my grandparents have told me about it.

Why should I have to hide when Im not doing anything wrong? Why should people catch an attitude when my vaping dose not affect them in a negative way.
Its a given Im doing something out of the norm so Im going to get some questions and comments.
There is a difference in someone going about their business and taking a nonchalant vape from time to time verses flaunting it.
I have very few bad reactions and much more positive comments than negative. I try not to do things Im ashamed of in my life there for I refuse to hide and do anything!

I haven't see the medical reports that second hand vaping isn't harmful to those around me. Can someone point me to them please?

In no way was I flaunting it. When I first started I was happily still outside. Then my colleagues all said it was stupid standing outside one nightshift when it was -7 and to come inside. Ever since then they have been accepting and supportive. It's one person with the issue, and that definitely isn't me.

Hey, sorry for the way that came out, I wasn't implying you were, it was a generalized statement from the way I see some people conduct themselves. I stand by my statement that if no one sees it, they can't have a problem with it. If someone does, I am respectful of that and do it elsewhere. Just because they are trying to stir up trouble doesn't mean I need to continue it.

I don't think they exist in a peer reviewed medical journal if that's what you are driving at. I think most evidence people use is anecdotal.

I don't want to get into that argument though because it really doesn't apply to my beliefs. Private enterprises have a right to restrict vaping on their premises if they want. If the OP has another issue with the woman, I would just get clearance from whomever ultimately makes the decision for that particular area.

I vape outside at work for two reasons, I know that it is against our building rules (which a lot of other not harmful things also violate) and I like getting away from my desk for a bit.

Thankfully I work at home most of the time and my home office manager (me) is pro-vaping.

I'm allergic to some perfumes. They can actually make me sick at my stomach. Maybe I should ask the ladies wearing those perfumes to go outside! That would go over like a turd in the punch bowl wouldn't it?!

Edit: I get a headache from it too.

Was in and out of the office today, after about 8 hours into the shift a senior manager I don't know asked what I was using, after a couple of fake coughs. I explained, she asked if I had to use it inside, not for personal reasons, just being curious, I explained that the twenty people I worked with have not had any problem and were all supportive of me giving up smoking. She then about faced and said due to personal prejudice she wanted me to go outside. So I did for half an hour and vaped to my hearts content. Luckily I don't see her often so it will be business as usual next week.

On the up side my new ss VAMO came today so I have a bigger pv to parade with!

Yea, that is what I was getting at...lol. Just because something is perceived as less harmful doesnt make it safe. Until the proof is in, I think we need to be on the side of caution and respect others..... Don't get me wrong, I love vaping...I can take it outside or throw in some snus when I can't.

I used to bring General Mint snus with me to work as a backup. That technically violates my building rules but isn't overt enough to be noticed and poses no issues health/annoyance for anyone. Obviously I don't know if the health issues are real but I can't say for certain it is entirely harmless.

I have the permission from the station inspector to use it. This other inspector was working on a one off in the station and opposed my vaping. Hopefully our paths won't cross that often in future. I played it down and avoided any argument as she is more likely to drop it and not try and make a corporate policy on it and get promotion off the back of it.

There have been way more studies done on snus than on vaping. The Swedish people have a way lower cancer rate both oral and lung...than many other populations...from the reading and studies I have seen.

I'm not allergic but I have informed a coworker, on behalf of someone shy, that their perfume level/type was cause an issue for someone else. Conversation went fine, I used tact in bringing it up and respect for both people in discussing it, so results were achieved.

People don't know if there is an issue until you tell them, how you tell them or they tell you makes all the difference.
