ecig express also does free shipping over 45.99 I think it is...I always end up at 44.58 or something so close I have to throw in another bottle of something...plenty of brand selection there...

When you're ready to explore more flavors, I agree that ECX is a great option. I'd recommend some Capellas for desserts and Hangsen and Inawera for tobaccos.

WL will take care of you and the free shipping is nice. So what flavors did you get?

LA- Cheescake NY style flavor
TFA- Vanilla Bourbon
LA- Creamy Hazelnut
TFA- Cola syrup flavor
LA- Caramel
TFA- Earl Grey
TFA- Peanut Butter
TFA- Raspberry
TFA- Vanilla custard

At some point or another, these flavors are probably going to be combined in one way or another. I imagine the raspberry, vanilla custard and hazlenut would all go together extremely well. My favorite flavor to date in my experience has been caramel candy from Mount Baker. It doesn't have a huge throat hit, but that changes when I crank my volts up to 6.0 on my 2.4 ohm RSST microcoil lol. Hits like a champ

If it concerns you (and please -everyone!- ignore this if it doesnt), there is only ONE flavor manufacturer whose flavors are free of diacetyl, acetoin and acetyl propionyl - and that is Flavourart (their E-Cigarette line). There is only ONE other vendor that has full disclosure & transparency on which flavors contain the 'inhalation risk chemicals', and that is TFA. Onward to other issues...

FlavourArt flavors can be used easily at VERY low percentages, so that means less PG :)

Check out this thread for all KINDS of great information & recipes about DIYing with FA flavors (and an ultra-cheap source for 3ml samples): http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/518022-pure-vapes-has-3ml-flavourart-flavorings.html You just may find that (like a LOT of us) you can save yourself immense amounts of time, money & frustration by starting with FA!

Btw, it is not true that "PG carries flavor better than VG" - it's just that because VG is thicker/more viscous, it takes longer for the flavorings to blend/meld and 'come into their own'.

This does concern me, thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into flavor art. It's nice to know that I have the potential capability of producing a safer juice than the larger companies, and know exactly what I'm inhaling

Edit: Is it accurate to say the TFA is a flavourart based flavor provider? therefore meaning that TFA flavors don't have potentially unsafe chemicals used?

I usually vape 50/50 but last week I made some nic base at 90vg/20pg (the 90vg included 5% saline, 5% d/w). I have three recipes I use all the time, and I absolutely could not get the flavor to come out in the VG mix. I'd heard that flavor just takes longer to develop in a higher Vg base, but after a week I went back to my regular 50/50 this morning and there's the flavor I was missing. Any ideas on what I might be missing? (I agree on the FA flavors btw - this is also why I was able to make such a high Vg percentage).

Unfortunately for me I get a super dry throat and mouth with pg. Haven't gotten my supplies yet, but from what my research has educated me on, maybe you need to use the crock pot longer, add more flavoring, and steep longer? Like I said, I'm totally new to DIY, but that's just my guess at why its not working

I hear what you're saying but a) two of the three juices are usually good to go within 24 hours with no crockpot - it has been a week already; and b) I *think* the idea is that you shouldn't have to use more flavoring with higher VG. The crockpot is usually my go-to for juice that needs a little bump, but in this case it didn't help.

Did you try adding a little 9% saline solution (somewhere around 5%?) That does help with the dryness in my experience.

^^ all good above, BUT get a note book and write everything down. Nothing worse than creating the perfect juice only to never be able to duplicate it again.

This is Perhaps... No.... This IS the Most Important thing about Doing DIY.

That and Don't Tweak a Recipe until it has Sat for At least 4 ~ 5 Days.

I've actually never seen that advice regarding reducing dry mouth/throat issues regarding juices with PG in them. I just switched to 100% VG that mount baker offers and all the issues went away.

Plus I like the amount of vapor =] I'm a little bit of a cloud chaser haha, that's probably going to turn in to "alot bit" of a cloud chaser once my Stingray clone and VTC5's arrive. Can't wait to be able to dual coil my Trident V2. Provari spools far too slowly to accommodate dual coils, and spools fairly slow on my RSST builds too, but I run higher ohms typically. 2.4 has been my sweet spot on the RSST, and the coil I did for my Trident just "happened" to come out at 2.2 I believe. I was intending for 1.8 or so.

Wait, hold the horses! My Trident's ohms skyrocketed to 4.0! No wonder I'm not getting a hot vape like I normally do. I've got the sucker set to 6 volts lol, time for some tweaking

Edit: Negative post came loose. Back to 2.5 ohms at 6 volts. Nice and toasty

LOL I have the Stingray/Trident clone combo - it's pretty awesome! (I was adventurous and have the coils at 0.4). Flavor is amazing, but I'd probably have to go pretty close to zero nic to vape it much.

It'd be interesting for you to take a recipe you get to know, make it in VG, and then again in 50/50 with the same amount of flavoring. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem :p Although I'm thinking there's something I'm missing here!

Very cool, yeah, I'm excited for the Stingray to get here. I'll probably do a small concentration of nic in the mix just for subohm, maybe 2-4 mg. I've heard you can knock yourself out pretty good with anything above 6mg (not literally). RipTrippers does this cool thing called a stovetop coil, which is interesting, but I really want to do the one where he takes a length of kanthal, wraps SS mesh AROUND the kanthal, trims the frays and makes that into a microcoil. He then obviously puts cotton through the microcoil. I love SS mesh to death, and I think this would be an intense dripper build with a mech. I tried it with the Provari and the ohms were so low that when I checked the ohms on the Provari, it didn't read, and the coils heated up like crazy to the point I was blowing on them to keep them from popping for the 2-3 seconds that the Provari fires to test the atomizer ohms.

I called them yesterday. They typically don't do direct sales. Usually, if you are local you can place an order over the net then they will call you when it is ready to be picked up. Explained that I am just getting into this and wanted to make sure I got what I needed. They were GREAT!! Made an appointment when they will have a chemist sit down with me and walk me through it!!!

I am impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile to assist a customer!!!

P.S. - Guess who will be getting my business?!??!?:thumb:

Alrighty guys, after stalking the mail man two days in a row, I have my Brass Stingray, and even better, my DIY supplies. I stored the nicotine base in the fridge, everything else in my cupboard. I did my first recipe today so I'll tell you exactly what I did, and if you feel the urge to critique me, I'll welcome it because it's my first batch and I want to learn EVERYTHING.
Step one. Get all the stuff out. Removed syringes in varying sizes from containers, laid down a paper towel in the kitchen, selected a flavor and got the nic base, VG and distilled water out.

Step two. Crunch numbers. I used an app called e juice me up, which seemed to work quite nicely. I had to force it to think there was no PG present by altering the pg/vg percentages, but it accounted for the flavoring in the pg somehow or other. It kept trying to make me add pg to the mix, and since I don't have any, and don't want any, I had to work at it a bit.
Numbers I crunched were:
30% distilled water (I like it runny for my gennys)
12% flavor
and 3 mls of nicotine for a total of 25 ml's @ 12mg/nic. Nic base is 100mg/nic
Entire ratio is apparently 79% VG according to the calculator, make whatever sense of that as you will. Seemed like a logical mix though

Step three: Do it. I added distilled water first, then VG, shake, add flavor, shake, add nicotine, shake, shake, shake. All in all the consistency looked right. It's in my slow cooker right now (glass bottle, inside a bag, floating in water).

Question though, my wifes slow cooker has options for keep warm, low and high I believe. I have it set to low. Sound right?

Step four, wait. Self explanatory.

How did I do?

Sounds like your off to a Good Start.

I would consider going Easy on the Water. 30% sounds like it is going to be Very Thin. And you might have some Leaking issues. I'd maybe start a little Lower and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip. However I only use RDA's and genesis attys, and I'm very good at building my gennys so they don't leak. I ditched clearomizers months ago.

I've been using mount baker 100% VG, and diluting a good chunk of distilled water with it, and it's been working fantastic. Figured the same principles would apply to my DIY recipes. I checked the consistency when I diluted it at 20% and it looked way too syrupy, so I upped it to 30, and it looks good. Mount baker of course offers a mix of 70% VG, 30% distilled water, but I just saved costs and did it myself, albeit lowering the nicotine content
