I also get a little testy with those that say that folks still using carts and attys are "dumb" or "embarrassing."

I have to ask What is there besides carts and attys? tanks still use carts, ce-2's are basically carts or 'mini tanks'. What else is there and does it really work?

Well, fan is short for 'fanatic' and that is how some people act..........

yes, but why do people actually get PO'd when you promote a product. I have had people get absolutely livid with my just because I was stating how much I like a produce. I don't get what makes them so angry.

Because its not our job to promote and fanboys often overlook shortcomings.....

Some people just have to feel they're right all of the time.

I have gotten into it with fanboys of other mods because I have had the temerity to actually keep liking mechanical mods.....8-o8-o8-o

The Reo is the best and nothing you can say or do will change my mind.

That is the best explanation of a fanboy you'll ever get!!!!

To me, the whole thing is quite ridiculous. Whether your a fan of attys, cartos, Darwins, Nikes, Apples, Hondas, Sony...etc. etc, who really cares. It all comes down to personal opinion and respecting others' opinion.

This country started down an alternate path 31 years ago and it is only getting worse, everyone thinks whomever shouts the loudest and/or longest is right.........

It's all based upon the same basic concept...juice delivery to a heating element. A carto is just an atty and cartidge combined into one piece. Most (like me) prefer them to the two piece system...but I have seen those that actually get silly about what they say to those that still use the two piece method.

    My definition of fanboy:

When someone states that XXX is the only one to get in every thread regardless of what the topic of the thread is.
Stating that you simply must have a Ford PU when the topic is TV sets is rather redundant, don't you think?
I simply have no interest in which mod you think is best when we are discussing the attributes of a cartomizer.

    Guess I'm guilty of that.
I say "thank you" to those that said there has got to be a better way
I can also imagine that the day will come that we say the same thing about cartos.

I dont think a fanboy has to be someone who likes somthing and tells everyone its the best when its not . A fanboy is just a obsessive fan of something . I am a Ny mets fanboy because i am a diehard mets fan . Someone calling me a fanboy for it is not a insult in any way though .

    Go Rangers!! :p

    fanboy

A passionate fan of various elements of geek culture (e.g. sci-fi, comics, Star Wars, video games, anime, hobbits, Magic: the Gathering, etc.), but who lets his passion override social graces.
At the mall I almost got mowed over by some Dragonball Z fanboy on his skateboard.

    2.

    1. A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not.
    2. A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like.
    3. See fool or SEGA.
"If you don't worship SEGA and send them all your money and pay $500 for the copy of Panzer Dragon I'm selling on ebay then your obviously a Sony fanboy even though I've never heard you mention a single thing about Sony the entire five minutes I've known you." Said the SEGA Fanboy.

    Not really.

A 'fanboy' to me is someone that tells a newbie to get a particular pv regardless of what of that persons smoking habits are like because it worked for them. Same with juice- I've seen someone ask for a mild menthol suggestion and another poster ask for a strong menthol suggestion and the person recommends the same juice to both.

That's not the same thing as saying I happen to like cartos or tanks or BWB juice. Or if you have had a bad experience with something, pointing it out if you found something that works better. I'd sort of like to see people not waste money.

All any of us can really do is offer our own opinions about what worked for us. We just have to keep in mind that everyone isn't like us.

I remember the hate mail I got from a Vmod fanboy after I posted pics of my leaky Vmod. She really thought it was not nice to tell people the mod was absolute fail even though lots of other people had leaky ones too. She really didn't like the fact of the pics all over the place spreading the word that the mod has design flaws, and its not related too "proper feeding techniques". She thought I was Trolling.
    Picture101-1.jpg

I can't believe you would make up such blatant lies about the vmod. That picture and all the others were photoshopped, because the vmod is so awesome, it's not possible.

For me there are two types of "fanboys":

    1) Corporate astroturfers who are paid to go on messageboards, comment sections of blogs and websites and social networks, pretend they are normal people, and vociferously put down and argue with anyone who doesn't worship whatever their corporate masters are paying them to promote.

    2) People who are fanatical about something and refuse to see anything bad with the object of their passion. What used to be termed an "unnatural love with an inanimate object". Now we can just say fanboy.

In other words, I do not see fanboy as a derogatory term, but a descriptive one. Some people do try and use it derogatorily, but some people use the word "lump" derogatorily. In other words, most words can be used in a negative fashion.

Yeah, it's a conspiracy, man. The people are actually clones of aliens.

Like anything else ("Don be hatin', man", "Racist!", etc.), "Fanboy, if used to avoid participating in an even-handed discussion really amount to an ad hominem attack, and a de facto retreat from reason.

Just my personal take on that sort of thing.

Lol, I'm not sure if you're being tounge in cheek or really don't realize this is fact: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Astroturfing. I use this advertising tactic myself, I pay people to astroturf for my clients, depending on how many clients I have at the time the number varies from 20-500.

Ad hominem was exactly the phrase I was looking for, thanks!
