I was certainly not speaking in the context of ECF, my comments were in regards to the fanboy term in general. However, there is no way you can guarantee what you claim. I can hire an experienced astroturfer for as low as about $40 (converted from my local currency) a day. Inexperienced ones go for much cheaper.
If the cost/benefit was worth it, then I could guarantee you there are astroturfers here at ECF. However, I have no idea what the economics of PVs are and what a cost/benefit analysis would look like. I can tell you that big corporations (Joye would be an ant compared to them) sometimes employ as many as a thousand or more when launching a new product.
Edit: As for Ego fanboys in specific, well I am an Ego fan (see my sig's 'joye tank attys guide' where I acknowledge the negatives and list the ways to work around them, but do praise its positives) and I am not paid by anyone to be so

well the only thing I can really say is I am a vaping fanboy. I am very happy to inform a smoker (when they instigate a conversation about what the hell are you smoking????) about the fantastic benefits of smoking vs vaping.

I've been called a Fanboy, hence my sig. I am a REO fan. It is perfect for me and a great pv, well-constructed, well-designed, with fabulous customer support. OTOH, EVERY design decision has trade-offs. I don't have a problem with a REO not being the perfect solution for everyone else.
Promoting a product with obvious flaws is what throws us into the fanboy category. There are a few people that come to ECF just to socialize, but the huge majority are looking for info about Ecigs. Money is limited, and when trash mods are hyped up, and people buy the product on your recomendation, guess what happens when they try it the first day? Not everyone is going to spend thousands shopping for a PV that will set them free from cigs, they wouldn't have too if they were not so many fanboys burying informative threads with drivel.
Different Strokes for Different Folks is definately true. There are some really bad companies out there producing some real junk though, and we all have to remember to spread that word also. If you care about any other member of the vaping community, and honestly wish to save them heartache and cash, that goes above and beyond hyping products. Be HONEST! Fanboys care nothing about facts, just hyping products and maybe getting more free stuff for doing reviews.
I remember the hate mail I got from a Vmod fanboy after I posted pics of my leaky Vmod. She really thought it was not nice to tell people the mod was absolute fail even though lots of other people had leaky ones too. She really didn't like the fact of the pics all over the place spreading the word that the mod has design flaws, and its not related too "proper feeding techniques". She thought I was Trolling.
You can spread the love for your favorite Vape product and not catch the Fanboi label. Spread the facts: good and bad. Fanboys lie and hide the shortcomings of products.

Have I tried to help purchasers of products I also own and have experience with -- yes.
If you will recall --- you posted the pictures on the classifieds when someone had a WTB for the VMOD.
There was never a complaint about posting it on the relevant threads. Several people attempted to help you debug the problem.
I also recalled you FLAMED someone for writing in that they were happy with their VMOD on that very thread......and I commented that I thought that was rude, to you privately.

I love yah tearose! The free flow of ideas and opinions makes ecf great. That's all people need: both sides of the coin. Then they can make an informed buying decision.
In the end I hope we all agree that we want great pvs available to people so they are no longer tempted by cigs. A lot of people struggle, and as a community we can help them. If a 180 mah pink 510 floats your boat, or a leaky vmod: shout it to every smoker you see. If someone needs something more, help them find that too. I only care that people are set free from cigs, happy about being free, and enjoying a nice vape after all these years that we have been treated like animals.

Agreed! In the end who really cares and what does it matter if someone is a so-called "fanboy" of a product. If you don't agree, look away! I guess I will never understand why people get so upset when someone is just stating how much they really love a product!
I also don't see why folks get upset when people say they do NOT like something. That's what makes this such a cool thing. Everyone gets something different from things. No need to take things personally just because someone doesn't like whatever works for me.

I can't believe you would make up such blatant lies about the vmod. That picture and all the others were photoshopped, because the vmod is so awesome, it's not possible.
