So, I bought a dual-coil tank which was labeled as 'LR'. Had nooooo clue what this meant when I bought it. Now I want to buy a few more batt's and tanks, but I keep seeing 'Low Resistance' and I figured I ought to ask what that means.
So.. what's Low Resistance?
Can I use a LR tank with a LR batt? How about with a regular batt? Etc, etc, etc..
THANKS!!! :)

Low resistance gives you more wattage with the same voltage according to ohm's law. So in vaping, what this means is that at a given voltage, the lower the resistance of your coil(s), the more vapor volume, warmth and throat hit you will get. This is affected by many other variables too, so it's not an absolute, but in general:

Given the same battery at the same voltage using the same juice: LR atomizers will put off more voluminous, warmer vapor than their standard resistance counterpart.

They're normally used with 3.7V devices (or in the < 5 volt range), while standard resistance is preferred for vaping at higher voltages.

Ok, I think I'm catching on. Just to be safe, though...

Can I use this battery :Black Ego Battery, 1100mAh
with this tank: Dual Coil 510 Chrome Tank Cartomizer

No. But you can replace the 1.7 ohm cartomizer that comes with that tank with a 2.0 ohm or above cartomizer like this one: Tank Replacement Dual Coil Cartomizers, 2.0 ohms and be totally fine.

Also - many people use LR stuff on ego's even though they really aren't meant to handle them. The risk is that you will ruin your ego battery. If you're willing to roll the dice, there's nothing necessarily stopping you from doing so.

Some people will tell you that you should not use LR or DC cartos on ego batteries. I have, and continue to do so with no issues. The only drawback I see is that it will shorten the battery discharge time as you are using more amperage. But with an 1100Mah battery it should still last a good 8+ hours depending on your vaping habits.

It has been stated by some that using LR or DC cartos on ego batteries will shorten the overall lifespan of the battery, and could possibly damage the ego battery. Maybe someone could chime in with more details. You just have to decide if you are willing to risk it.

My stance is that eGo batteries are cheap and I only use them for backup and in specific situations, so the risk is worth the increased performance for me.

Think resistance as how much water you have in a pot your trying to boil

Low resistance= very little water in the pot your trying to boil
High resistance= full pot of water your trying to boil
Think of Voltage= Heat applied

So you wont need much heat (voltage) to boil the low resistance pot of water, but you will need to crank it up to get that full pot of water to boil

Dual coils are a different story, same principle just add math

Ok, sorry... I know, I know, I've got the comprehension of a 5 year old when it comes to this wattage/voltage/ohms stuff. Basically, my point is that I've got this beautiful dual coil tank cart that I want to have a nice big battery for. Can anyone suggest a good battery with a long life that would work with this tank cart: Dual Coil 510 Chrome Tank Cartomizer

portland, or
Dual coils and LRs CAN work with eGo batteries - although they may weaken the batteries overall life. A mod with slightly more mah and 3.7v would work better but the eGo should work for some time with a DCT. i have 1.5ohm smoktech DCTs that i occaisionally will use an ego with not for too long though just when i have no other batts

Thanks for all the replies so far, everyone! I can't say enough how nice and helpful this entire community is!

I'm probably going to take the advice of the first poster and order the 2.0 ohm replacement cart for the tank I already have.

However, if I want to go on the safe side and try not to burn out a new eGo batt, what's the best batt to use with my 1.6 ohm dual coil tank cartomizer? (The whole reason I wanted to get the eGo tank batt in the first place was bc the tank itself is rather large- 5ml- and my regular old manual extended life 510 batt looks kinda strange with it.)

Ohms are ohms. The battery doesn't know (or care) if the atty/carto is single coil or dual coil or whatever. 1.5 ohms is 1.5 ohms resistance.

Resistance is "how open the valve is" for the electricity to flow. lower number = more open = more electricity. Another way to think of resistance is "amount of electrical friction". Lower # = easier to slide the electricity through the wire (less friction).

Many cautions have come out over 1.5 ohm stuff in eGo type units... but mostly these seem to be a thing of the past. Current reports seem to make it OK. Most DC's are 1.6 ohms... that's actually more resistance than the 1.5 ohm LR atties....less stress on the battery.

The real trick, with any e-cig, is can the battery put out the amps? Amps are kinda how fast it can send the electricity (electrons per second...more or less). Voltage is pressure... how hard it pulls electrons through the wire...electrical force - ish.

Anyway... if you like the eGo battery after using/testing it out.... get one or two spares. BACKUPS!
