You know, there are a lot of things that we like to take to a competitive level...
Just cause I don't do the whole cloud chasing scene, doesn't mean I don't appreciate those that do. I think it's fun to watch...
Much in the same way I am a HUGE race fan... Formula 1, NASCAR, NHRA, IndyCar, Australian Super 8's, You name it, if it involves racing cars, I love it! Now, I don't own a race car, nor am I courageous enough to get out on the track anymore, but man I just love to watch!
That said... Racing cars is DANGEROUS! And every single sanctioning body has very strict rules in place to ensure the safety of both the competitors AND the fans, as well as keep things relatively equal in terms of the specifications of the cars.
So, I would say, as many have said over the last 70+ pages of this thread, that if there are going to be cloud chasing competitions, then there needs to be rules.
And not just rules set up by some random person, but a no kidding sanctioning body. With real inspections of all the components involved...
Electronics technicians performing inspections with highly accurate fluke meters... To check the ohm load of the atomizer... To check the mod for proper venting and safety features. Battery EXPERTS performing inspections on the batteries... If your battery can't achieve 120% of the continuous current requirement of the setup, then it's a no go. No more riding on the edge of the battery amp limits. A retaining wall that separates the active vaper from the crowd made from bulletproof rated plexiglass. If it can stop a bullet, it can stop some shrapnel from a venting mod.
All things that have been said... And if we're going to continue to promote these contests at vape meets, which I personally think are entertaining, then have a sanctioning body and do it with respect for the safety of the competitors and the spectators.
Would it be a hassle? Sure it would... But at every level of competition, there are rules and a sanctioning body, even in little league baseball and something as silly as racing remote control cars...
It wouldn't take a load of money, the staff from each competition would be volunteers from the local community who have to pass a certification exam.
It would keep things safe, and fun... And that's what these cloud chasing competitions are all about... Having a little fun!
