FACT!!!!!!!!

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco has the highest suicide rate of any structure on earth. Now its authorities are erecting safety nets below the bridge, based on a model that has been successful in Bern.

"People suffer largely unnoticed while the rest of the world goes about its business. This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness. Raises questions about suicide, mental illness and civic responsibility as well as the filmmaker's relationship to his fraught and complicated material."

Coming in late after a long day of kids' soccer.... I'll go with CRaP: seems like the statement may hold true for just the U.S., but the bridge in China sounds more deadly.

True, but a lot of these questions are vague. DrBeaker also didn't say deadly. There are bridges that host bungee jumping.

The Golden Gate Bridge is the second-most used suicide site/suicide bridge in the world, after the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (see List of suicide sites).[69] The deck is about 245 feet (75 m) above the water. After a fall of four seconds, jumpers hit the water at around 75 mph or about 120 km/h. Most of the jumpers die from impact trauma. About 5% of the jumpers survive the initial impact but generally drown or die of hypothermia in the cold water.
Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Nanjing, China – over 2,000 suicides from 1968 to 2006[1]
Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California, U.S. – over 1,500 suicides[2][3]
Prince Edward Viaduct, Toronto, Ontario, Canada - 492 suicides committed before the Luminous Veil was constructed. Nicknamed "a magnet of suicide".
Aokigahara forest, Mount Fuji, Japan – up to 108 suicides a year;[4] one source cites as the second most popular spot[5]
List of suicide sites - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most suicidal jumps occur on the side facing the bay. The side facing the Pacific is closed to pedestrians.
