Murata VTC Clone - Mountainprophet

few days ago one of the members in a forum up loaded some images of fake VTC6 he purchased in Germany from a known dealer.

In General is the fake VTC6 a bit higher, the QR-code leads to nothing and the isolators are thicker.
This guy made some measurements with SkyRC M3000 with following results:
#1/2036mAh/62mOhm
#2/2055mAh/44mOhm
#3/2183mAh/46mOhm
#4/2291mAh/40mOhm
#5/1928mAh/76mOhm
#6/2442mAh/48mOhm
#7/2127mAh/46mOhm
#8/Dead by Arrival with 0,3 Volt
All batteries didn´t hold more than 15A CDR
Fyi...

Wow -- garbage. I'm surprised they can do 15A continuous without overheating. Real VTC6s I've tested are consistently under 15 mΩ (AC resistance, tested with Vapcell YR1030).

    Thanks for posting that!

Do we know if the top insulating rings were free floating or self-adhesive?
Do we know in the top of the cell, under the ring, has the two “dimples” that only exist on VTC cells?

I was wondering who is the Vendor? There is not a single remark to that...just that the vendor is big and known and sell on different market places.
I agree with Rutzki73. it is a fraud, it is dangerous for the user...it stinks...especially because in Germany it is currently almost impossible to purchase VTC6...so if you sell fakes, you can make lot´s of money..

Just last week, I received a Murata VTC6 from rauchershop.eu, Berlin, Germany. They have a note regarding Murata in the product description.

There seems to be no difference in performance compared to my Sony VTC6s. The cell's AC internal resistance is 12.7mΩ (measured with YR1030).

Since Murata took over from Sony, there won't be any more VTCx cells labled only with the Sony brand, nevertheless both akku and nkon still sell them as Sony/Murata cells.

First, on Li-Ion industrials batteries from Sony, there was never any print telling you it is sony made, but only the type of the battery like US18650VTC6, US18650VTC5 etc.
First later came this remark with Danger bla...bla...bla...but still no mentioning of Sony.
I don´t know, how Murata and Sony handle this matter of manufacturing, selling, marketing, just want to remind you, that many years the Ni-Mh brand of eneloop used to belong to Sanyo (later Panasonic), but the batteries were FDK made!
Regarding availability...if you see the price developement on Nkon website, you can see, that they have also low stock. I remember times, where the price of VTC6 was below 4.50€ on big quantity at Nkon. The same with Akkuteile.de
Btw...every company, that is using Sony brand and Logo on their website without getting a permition from Sony is in a risk to be followed legaly by Sony. If on a product does not appear the brand Sony, you can´t use it...if there are lawyers among us...it will be interesting to hear their opinion. Some smart shops sell therefore Konion VTC5, or Konion VTC6 etc. - Konion is not a legal property of Sony!
