Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
the v4 is garbage in my opinion. The threads are so cheap they are useless after several uses. The top
will come off if you even glance at it. Seriously, garbage.
The V3 is okay but the threads on the inner posts wear out and cause a connection fail as they can no longer make a solid connection on the coil legs. 50/50 chance, I'd say of this happening.
The original Phoenix has two known issues, (which I will explain) but I still like it because, like I said earlier these new rebuildables are all leaning towards rubber grommet connections instead of the old style screw on, which absoiutely will not come off unless you want it to.
Okay now, the V1 (Phoenix original) has two main things to watch out for.
1) The plastic posts will melt
if you jam a coil in there so tight that it touches the posts and run the God-blessed little bugger at 15 watts with a sub-ohm coil ( Yeah I am exaggerating here) what I am saying is that plastic will melt in extremes:
But I vaped day and night on my V1 for almost a year until the posts wore out.
and
2) The center nub that makes connection with the 510 battery on your device will tend to recede occasionally and disallow a connected circuit if you don't press it back flush.
STILL I feel a Phoenix V1 atty gives the best performance compared to many rebuildable atomizers.
Why?
The top absolutely will not slip off.
So many of these other attys are made with this stupidly ridiculous "pop on and off grommet top" and it's a real PITA having juice leak on your clothes in your pocket etc. All because some brainiac though "Well grommets will be easier" and it caught on in the manufacturing sector. Sacrifice quality for convenience is not the way to do it.
Yeah, I have a v5 (Nimbus, or Chimbus as some call it) and I am vaping on it in between typing this. But it has a really airy vape and the only reason I am using it is that I am too unmotivated right now to mess with building a coil. (And it's sub-ohm, so it is quite satisfying as a result)
Bottom line, it's personal taste. You like chocolate, vanilla or strawberry? Know what I'm saying?
If it's less than 10 bucks, meh? whatever, don't sweat it, cause that was what two decks of nasties costs these days, I am told.
If you get an atty and its crap, toss it in a corner, chalk it up as experience and either use it for parts or resurrect it later. Quite honestly that is exactly what I did with the Phoenix V1 that is
now my "go to atty preferred vape".
I got tired of screwing with its quirks in the beginning but now as a more experienced vapor-maniac, I just deal with the quirks because the performance outweighs the quirks.
Happy Vaping: It's like an Erector set for adults
Edit/Add on:
I have yet to try a lot (including the IGO series) of these current atomizers, you may like them, I just haven't messed with 'em. They come out with a new trendy atty almost weekly, so you just need to find one that you like.
