If its the chargers not making contact with the battery, why do some work and other don't?

Right... I've confused myself now so I'm gonna start again! Lol!

I use these batteries: 436-1.jpg. They are 280Mah.

I used to have two chargers in this style: 144-1.jpg. I stood on one and the other still works. It is 200Mah.

I bought a new charger in this style: 144-1.jpg at 450Mah and it would not charge my batteries at all. The light never changed to green whether I was charging the above pictured batteries or Ego batteries.

I then received a replacement charger in this style: 211-1.jpg. It is 200Mah. Again, this wouldn't charge my batteries and the light never changed from red to green.

So I bought 510 Titan USB Charger at 150Mah which WORKS!

I also bought 510 Titan/Tornado Battery Mega Charger at 150Mah which doesn't charge my batteries.

Any of the chargers which haven't worked have all had nicely cleaned batteries put on them, left for hours and hours to charge (including overnight) with no effect. If its the connection to the battery, why is it that some chargers will work and others just wont? Also, on those chargers that don't work, they will recognise a fully charged battery and will keep a green light. They just wont charge flat batteries...

This is crazy frustrating! Lol!x

In manufacturing I believe it's called a tolerance fault. When tolerances in mfg specs combine to cause a failure. All it takes is for that center post to be depressed a fraction of a mm and you don't make contact. Atty's often have the center post protrude more than needed to account for that but the center post on chargers don't stick out that far. If you have a gap between the center conductor/post and the charger or atty they wont work. If you have a build up on the center post it will not make contact. If you have some needle nose pliers you my be able to pull the center post on the battery out some to make better contact. Also on some batteries the post can get depressed during use. I had 3 EGo batteries and the center post was pretty easy to move in and out on them.
Hope this helps. OH on my ego type charges the center post is flat and wide a lot of attys don't make full contact on the battery center post they just make contact on the edges leaving the center untouched and over time a spot the size of a pencil lead will build up in that spot. IF you try to charge that battery with that build up it won't work. You need to clean it with either a qtip and alcohol or a pencil eraser.

I use these batteries: View attachment 218454. They are 280Mah.

I used to have two chargers in this style: View attachment 218456. I stood on one and the other still works. It is 200Mah.

I bought a new charger in this style: View attachment 218456 at 450Mah and it would not charge my batteries at all. The light never changed to green whether I was charging the above pictured batteries or Ego batteries.

I then received a replacement charger in this style: View attachment 218457. It is 200Mah. Again, this wouldn't charge my batteries and the light never changed from red to green.

So I bought 510 Titan USB Charger at 150Mah which WORKS!

Rachy - it sounds like the chargers have a problem, as you say. One works fine and one doesn't. The good news is you should be able to use the one that works with egos too. The bad news is they will take foreva to charge at 150 mah.

Sorry this is frustrating for you. The devil is in the details huh.

OK, a quick update:

I'd just had a lovely chat with a fella at TW who thinks it might be because I've not left them on for long enough. Because the 150Mah gets shared across the batteries, its worth giving it another go. If it still doesn't work, I can send it back, they'll have a look at it and probably send me a new one. Fingers crossed!x

One final update: the Titan Mega (150Mah) charger did charge a 280Mah battery...but it took over 12 hours to do so. I really don't think this is acceptable as if I put 5 batteries on, it could take days! I think I'm going to send it back as it is clearly less than useless.x

Yes. I see what's happening with it now. I charge my 18650s on a dual bay charger - but it doesn't split the charge between the two. Yours is splitting the charge. 12 hours for a 280 mah battery is ridiculous. You'd be better off with separate chargers - one for each battery.
