I am curious guys what everyone means when they say TA 1%. Does that mean 1% of the super concentrated flavor as you get it from the vendor, or 1% of the diluted 10% solution?

The ones that comes as paste like Rustica or Mothers Milk I mix it up at %10 solution. When a recipe calls for TA at %1, it is to use the solution at %1 in the recipe. With the ready to use like Inawera, I will use it the same as the solution.
A recipe calls for %5 flavor, %2 something else and %1 TA means you add %8 additive to a %92 VG/PG/Nic base.

The Rustica TA is the only one I've tried so far. It arrived as a paste and following Danny's advice, I mixed it down to a 10% solution. That makes it much easier to work with and usually I'm adding 1% of that 10% solution to other flavors.

I dunno...thats 33% of a 5% cotton candy mix I had made I put into the desert ship. If I made a 33% cotton candy she could put it on her pancakes. :). I'm trying to figure out how much cotton candy concentrate I would use to achieve the same ratio in her juice.
I think I misunderstood you. Cotton candy is much like EM. When you buy it, it is mixed from the manufacture into a 5% base solution concentrate just like EM. So when you said "a 5% mix I made of cotton candy (Which is how you make EM from crystals)" I though you ment you used 3ml's straight from the CC flavoring bottle which would equal 33.33%. If what your saying is you used an already mixed juice with 5% cc added then JD1 is correct. Sorry for the mix up I kinda over thought the entire process and I hang my head in shame:)

Today I reviewed these flavors. All test samples were 5ml with %4 flavoring at 80VG/20PG. They all sat in the UC for 2 hours on a 30 watt cycle and 1 hour on a 50 watt cycle before first taste test and 30 minutes at 50 watts for second taste sample. Taste test was done on a Nimbus RDA with a large coil at 1.89 ohm with Rayon wicks on a Tesla Invader.

Flavor Art Dusk Had a light sweet leafy taste as is. I added 1 drop of Rutisca TA and 1 drop or Dark Tobacco. Flavor became bolder. Not recommended. Might work well in a mixture.

Flavor Art Latakia. Had high hopes for this from the description. Was suppose to be a smokey tobacco blend. What I got from it was a very hayish strong flavor. Added 1 drop of Mothers Milk TA to it and it rounded out the hayish flavor but never did get a smokey flavor to it. Might need a long term steep to bring it out. If you like hayish tobacco vapes then this one is it. Not as good as Inawera latakia.

Tobacco Express Golden Virginia. This has a very good strong tobacco flavor and is recommended as is. Added 1 drop of Virginia TA and it just becomes even better. Would be a very good base for more complex mixtures.

Inawera Tuscan Garden By itself it has a hayish cig-a-like flavor with a bit of peanut shell to it. Not bad by itself. Added 1 drop of Rustica TA to it and rounded out the hayish flavor and brought the cig flavor out more. Its a pretty good vape either way.

Inawara Burley Had a smooth dry tobacco flavor by itself. Added one drop of TA Virginia and 1 drop of Dark Tobacco to it and it became more of a bold tobacco taste. This one I would also recommend for using as a base for a more complex tobacco mixture.

Inawera American Type. This is a straight up cig flavor vape. Added a drop of Virginia TA and a drop of Dark tobacco and I started detecting a real light spice flavor to it. I pulled the wick, re dry burned the coil and wicked it again just to be sure and yes, a slight spicy flavor to it. Pleasant vape all the way around but wasnt expecting the spice hint.

Inawera Tobacco. By itself it has a sweet flowery flavor to it. Add a drop of TA Virginia and a drop of Dark Tobacco and it enhanced the flowery flavor.

Going to let these samples sit a week and see how the flavor develops.

Now to revisit a few flavors.

FA 7 leaves %5, Virginia TA %1 and Cap Green Apple %1. Last night I was leaning to a tad too heavy apple. Today it blended together very nicely and is an outstanding vape. Highly recommend.

Inawera Canadian Type %5, Garuda TA & DNB. This has become on its own a very nice creamy tobacco vape. Easily an all day vape.

Thank you for the great reviews.

TA in it's raw form is a thick paste like product that needs to be diluted into a concentrate. You would mix 1% of that paste into 9% base (PG/PGA) and use that concentrate at 1 - 3% in your tobacco juice recipes.

Is that '10% TA + 90% base (PG/PGA) Mixture' that is then used at 10% to 30% in the final e-juice? That would yield a final amount of TA in the e-juice of 1% to 3% TA. Or is the '10% TA Mixture' used at 1% to 3% which would yield 0.1% to 0.3% final amount of TA in the e-juice?

The latter. 1% of 10%.

Right on...:thumb: Thanks JD
I'm under the gun a bit since she is down to her last couple 50's of the juicemafia. Now discovering using a Hangsen tobacco instead of plain base is a giant leap toward my Happy Wife goal, now its a few taste adjustments and I'm golden.
Not having mail order juice to pass customs no more, thats the best bonus.

You're welcome. Does she like vanilla and caramel? The reason I ask is because I've seen the TFA Ry4 Double mentioned in some posts along the lines of " I don't even like tobacco but I like this". It might go well as a change of pace sub for the DS, or maybe even a more complicated recipe like this one. Scutch - RWhy4 Reloaded | E-Cigarette Forum

There is no need to even think about hanging your head in shame, you've been a valuable asset in many peoples DIY juice journey in this thread, I know you've changed my way of thinking about TA's.
To me the mix smells like a light desert ship that I've added sweetener. Its no where near as strong as the straight DS I have in another bottle. I'm in no hurry to test vape it or bait and switch my wife's juice to find her reaction to the new juice.
I have finally gotten around to test vape some stand alone grapes( Cap, TFA, Natures flavors) I built weeks ago and they all are still disappointingly weak and may as well add nic to the straight concentrate and vape that cause I'd have to exceed 20% to maybe find some taste...into the closet they go. I still have a small jug of Hangsen grape that I still haven't tried. So maybe once I get my ADV tobac locked down I might get into adding fruits to my tobaccos and see if that helps pop out some flavor.
She hates vanilla but hates custard more, she can pick out custards in a vape exhale and almost makes her sick and I won't vape those around her. I haven't tried caramel since I don't like it for the reason I don't like chocolate or coffee, it has a burnt taste right from the get go

1% of 10% won't even satisfy a baby. I am vaping it at 10% and it's great; it translates to 1% of raw Rustica.

Lol. Yeal, but you're hard core! :D I tried it at 10% and liked it pretty good actually. I'm mostly using it with other flavors though and 1 to 2% (of the 10% solution) seems to work really well for me.

Thank you for those kind words.

If you haven't added anything but fruit flavoring to those fruit mixes try adding .05% sweetener and .05% EM to those fruits, steep 24 - 48 hours and see if they improve. The EM should give the mix a thickness and the sweetener should enhance the flavor without over sweetening them. Also if you over flavored those fruits then you may have to dilute. Fruit has a nasty habit of delivering little to no taste if over flavored expecially the TFA stuff.

Lol! If I were going to vape it stand a lone I'd probably mix it at about 3 to 4%. When I tried it at 10%, I didn't perceive it as 3 times stronger than 3% though. I'm not sure that can be blamed on the math though. :D :vapor:

I am planning to cut down from 10% to 5 and see how much of a difference would that make; probably not that much since doubling the flavor does not always double the taste. As for the math, it's actually pretty simple: 10% of raw Rustica =.1 in decimal terms. And then, 10% of that 10% is .1x.1=.01 (Or 1%)of Raw Rustica. Of course you already know all this; just trying to test me. :)
