Is anyone else searching for a supplier/manufacturer of porous ceramic rods/tubes/cartridges? I've found a few so far and am going to start sending emails, but I would like to know what the IDEAL diameter/dimentions would be to fit the AGA V2 as well as the AC9, and maybe even a little guy for the Phoenix style atomizers.

HELP!

I agree. The "cotton ball" method of building ss wicks never made any sense to me; and the idea of wrapping ceramic wicks with cheese cloth doesn't either. If you're going to do that, why not just use cotton wicks to begin with?

listen guys, it just helps out people who have a hard time wrapping the ceramic. this enables them to get the coils tighter. for me personally i dont use the cloth, for i have had good results with out it. actually today i took a bit of sand paper and smoothed out the end of the wick, i then wrapped very tight. within 1/4 of tank this was rocking. so for people using the thread, what does this matter? it works, and it works good, and you cannot get these results with any ss mesh set-up, for the wick is ceramic. i just dont get it when you say,"just use cotton wick in the first place" now you sound like edo. how can a cotton wick compare to a ceramic wick with a tiny bit of thread on the top, this makes no sense to me at all.

i have an ac-9 and the 1/8 wick is perfect. also if you have an aga, you can bore it out to fit the 1/8 or use the 3/32 wick, which fit in nicely. i have a 3/32 wick in my aga and it has been performing as good if not better then my ac-9 with the 1/8 ceramic

Awesome, thanks for the reply man. I heard that the 3/32 is a fraction too small for the AGA, should I request a better dimension you think?

for those who are confused about the cloth over the ceramic wick, it doesnt change the flavor of the ceramic at all. the only purpose of this is to slightly fill up the gaps behind the wires. the ceramic is bumpy so a small slice of this thread will close up these gaps, period. the thread isnt even side by side when wrapped, you leave gaps inbetween. you are not completely covering the wick at all. so let me ask again, how does this compare to a hybrid ss wick? and a cotton wick?

ok, i miised the fact that you were special ordering sizes. well your right the 3/32 is slightly to small for the aga, but let me tell you it works good this way. but it is fragile as well, so maybe slightly bigger would be good, but i am not sure of the particular size to be

Cool, I just sent them an email asking if their particular "rods" are Food Grade, and whether or not they treat the rods after they've been fired.

Ok waiting on some wicks, what if the wick was sanded smooth? Will it diminish the performance or ability to wick? Does the ceramic need to be rough?

lets enlarge the situation imagine the surface being a box of 5mm tubes thrown in at different angles and heights then sanding the tubes till they become level with the top of the box, this process doesnt stop them being tubes, it just makes them all level and flush with the top of the box.

So what's an ideal height measurement that would be good to request on these?

for the ac-9/ 1-3/4 long. aga= 1-1/2 long. you know i am so happy with the fc-2000 wicks, and being that i have enough for a year i think im fine. but i would definately like to know the results if you try these other ones.

I think I want to try these wicks. Does anyone know where to find them?

hey buddy, three places, discount vapors/s&s mods and tankecigs. they are having a hard time to keep in stock and at the moment tankecigs are probably the only place that has current stock, also they are the most expensive at about 6 dollars per wick, outch!. in time more stock and hopefully cheaper. just keep checking sites for stock. they stock 2 sizes/ 3/32 & 1/8.

Hello all, thought I'd share my experience with AGA-T+ and Vamo with the FC-2000 wicks.

I was using a Vivi Nova and the constant burning of the wicks drove me to try RBA's. I researched a set-up that would minimize fumes/health issues which drove me to this thread in particular, and I was lucky enough to find the 3/32 wicks and the AGA -T+ in stock at discountvapers second day I looked.

My first coil with the 32g nichrome that came with the AGA tasted terrible, with a sporadic tasty puff here and there that kept me hopeful. Broke the first wick trying to coil it tight.

Couple of days later I received my order of cheesecloth and 30g A1 kanthal. I definitely got a much better result doing the coil before inserting the wick. It makes it much easier to coil evenly, and the cheesecloth helps a ton with keeping it tight. I am getting 1.2 ohms with a 4/5 wrap and I believe this is the lowest I can go with the Vamo. The vapor is just heavenly clean and tasty. The one issue I have noticed is a stingy metallic taste when I first fire it up in the morning or when I get home from work. Popping the lid and burning a few seconds at 10+ watts while holding it sideways before puffing seems to help... But so far I haven't been able to fully avoid that bad taste with the first few puffs. I have a perfectly even coil with a constant 1.2 ohm resistance, that lights up from the center with no hot spots, so I doubt it's the coil. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Other than that one minor issue, the vapor is fantastic, and I feel a bit skeptical about the benefits I could be getting with a pricier RBA or mod.

man this new wick is breaking in nicely. so here is what has worked so far. very first ceramic wick over 2 weeks ago was just rinsed and let stand in hot water, it was just wrapped regular. this wick took many tanks to break in, but after that it was awesome. next wick was boiled, then just wrapped regular, this took a little less time to break in. all next set-ups were boiled before wrapping. next was using the piece of thread from cheesecloth, this broke in very fast, within a few vapes. although the thread worked, it did get gunked up. today i decided to sand the end of wick, just where the coils are attached, this broke in within a 1/4 tank. so far i like this method, for it shouldnt get gunked up and if taken out to clean after a while, just re-wrap again and break in will be quick again.

Thanks, I have to try these. I will probably drill my wick holes to fit the 1/8 ones.

do you have the aga? if you do then drilling would be one way, or just use the smaller 3/32 wicks. i did the latter and although you need to be more careful, the small wick really performs well with the gap between wick and wick hole. i will wait to see some more results of people who have drill out, and see how the 1/8 work in this new hole.
