FDA at it again...tell your Representative

Illinois is after an outright ban as well, not just stopped shipments (which are bad enough).
Bill #SB3174 has been floating out there.
Illinois residents,,, get on it!

Unless we shame the FDA/Politicians/ etc, we don't stand a chance.

The last I read Illinois SB3174 appeared DOA. That was in April,2010. Anything new since then?

As you may know, electronic cigarettes are devices that produce a similar experience to smoking for users. They are battery powered devices that provide inhaled doses of nicotine or non-nicotine vaporized solution/Proponents of electronic cigarettes argue that the devices can help people quit smoking, and do not deliver the same carcinogens The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has argued that electronic cigarettes should be regulated like nicotine replacement gum or patches because they deliver nicotine directly to the lungs. The FDA has attempted to classify electronic cigarettes a drug delivery device so it can regulate electronic cigarettes and require a proof of their safety under the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act.

You might be interested to know that the United States Court of Appeals in Washington, DC unanimously ruled on December 7th 2010 that the FDA cannot stop the importation of electronic cigarettes, and that the FDA must regulate electronic cigarettes as tobacco products. Please be assured I will keep your thoughts about this issue in mind should I have the opportunity to vote on it in the Senate.

I'd have to say either they have gotten a lot of these letters so they have a canned response, or someone actually has researched my complaint.

It at least sounds like someone tied it in with the correct thing, e-cigs. A lot of responses others received did not even show that much effort.

But I wonder if Senator Cantwell knows that the FDA APPEALED (again) that unanimous court decision and is wasting even more tax dollars??

She knows, that is what I wrote to her my letter, explaining the current situation. That is why I have to laugh when I get back an explanation of what an e-cig is and a quick summary of the the not so latest legislation news around e-cigs. It is as if she didnt read the note I sent.

That's more than I got. I sent out to 6 individuals, 3 of which are my state legislators. Nothing from anyone yet. Maybe snail mail is really SNAIL mail.

I haven't received anything from my US senators or representatives yet. Maybe it is time we compile all available information on ecigarettes for reputable sources and send a package to EVERY US Senator and Representative and each individual state representative too.
