this article has some things about the FDA that shows the FDA has had some experenience with being at the sharp end of the stick...

"Saccharin became mired in controversy in 1977, when a study indicated that the substance might contribute to cancer in rats. An FDA move to ban the chemical failed, though products containing saccharin were required to carry warning labels. In 2000, the chemical was officially removed from the Federal Government's list of suspected carcinogens."

well in my reading of both articles : Medicine: Bitter Sweetener - TIME
well it gives ME hope. it is the link above that shows the FDA knowing then they have a credability problem "'Hertz Rent-a-Scientists.'" that made be laugh.
is dr. Jacqueline Verrett still alive?...going to look...
