I wanted to contribute to a thread discussing FDA regulation and specifically a New York Times article clearly articulating the current arguments opposed to electronic cigarettes, but new member regulations prevent me from doing so.

Welcome Chastity! I read the article and I figured the FDA would continue their regulatory efforts. Hopefully, with our help, they will lose. What we need to do is make sure we educate everyone on the positives of vaping vs smoking and get the word out. Ultimately, I feel like we need to get the medical community on our side. Thanks!

The member regulations are excellent for catching spammers and vendors in disguise. It helps protect new vapers from bs.

3 more non-spammed posts or replies in New Members (for a total of 5) and an hour wait and then you can post anywhere. Much less restrictive than some forums I've been on and easily attainable. One forum I was on required 25 days membership and 40 meaningful posts to gain even reading access to the bulk of the forum and to the marketplace.

Completely understand, just highlighting the irony between my post and its topic. This forum has all ready proven a valuable asset. Perhaps I'll stop lurking and make a contribution here and there..

+1 for Bozz and Vapeterry. New people also need to know about the forces aligned against vaping and what can be done to counter it. Specifically, join and support:

There is a sub forum.. However, new members are not initially allowed to post anywhere outside the New Members Forum. Figuring there are probably oodles of analog smokes coming to this forum, I figured this topic of FDA regulation might be relative and still worth posting outside the intended location.

These forums are for adults 18 and over. Bashing on new members in a new member forum is a lot like making fun of a second grader for not knowing long division. As appealing as acting like a 12 year old on a playground can be, it's more socially acceptable if you act your age.

Also, the article came out on 7 November 2011; 6 months ago it was summer in Illinois and Utah.
