Has anyone seen anything re: freezing e-juice? I know the shelf life for juice at room temp is ~ 2 yrs, but what about when it is frozen? Does the nicotine degrade too much to be ineffective?

This is a "doomsday" scenario, where I freeze 20 litres of plain nic juice in my freezer for ressurection with flavourings at a later date :)

PS. This is a government regulation doomsday and not a "real" doomsday. For the real doomsday , I'll just bend down and KMAG :D

Hi Farmer-bric,

I haven't tried this personally but I have read about freezing nic juice on one of the British forums. Seems the juice doesn't freeze solid but gets thicker. It's advised to freeze in glass bottles although I'm not sure why.

One of the members on the forum stocks dooms day nic and freezes it for over a year and it is just fine when thawed.

I understand that it is the nicotine that has a shelf life. I freeze my nic base in glass and I keep a 2 year supply. I'm not sure if freezing extends the shelf life but I don't want to keep a supply that may be useless if it's not used before the shelf life. I'm sure that it must slow down the aging process, but I'm not willing to take a gamble on 20 liters!

20 liters (of 60mg) would be an 80 year supply for me at my present consumption!

Relax, Enjoy!

I hope you have about 5,500 Carto to go with that e-Liquid. If you Average 1 every 5 Days, you're gonna need them.

That is an older thread but some really good info/background on how to store nic base long term for best results. I have a some stashed in a deep freeze using exactly the method Kurt lays out in this thread. I suspect it will work just fine.

I'm loving these vivi nova 2.5's right now, but should Armageddon come, I've enough wick and wire to see me thru;)

Nah, just a couple RBAs and a hundred (or maybe two) feet of kanthal wire. Stop by your local pharmacy, department store or food market for some wicks :D

Don't know why I didn't think of that :(

Anyways, did that and it looks like I have a lot of reading ahead of me :)

I just didn't have Enough experience in Freezing to say. But I know that there have been many threads about it and the use of Glass Containers to do so.

They can't ban wire, batteries and wicks! Pandoras box has been opened, nothing is going to stop me from vaping.

I might have to pick up a few RBA's and add it to my Doomsday Stock Pile.

When I find something that works, like a MiT/RS CE2 Rev"4" Frosty Tube, I like to stock up on them Before the OEM decides to Change them. When the CE3's hit, there was talk that MiT/RS would Phase out the CE2. I bought 200 just Incase they did.

I've just finished my experiment. I've filled 30ml bottle with 10ml of fresh DK RY4. I've left lots of air space there to see if the ejuice would oxidize. Than over period of two weeks I've let it freeze and defrost in room temperature five times over. I'm vaping it now and can't any difference. Two weeks is not a long time but if it can survive the treatment I gave it without any problem than I think it's safe to say that freezing ejuice log term is fine. This could possibly prolong two year life by many years. By the way ejuice don't actually freeze, it just gets thick.

Close to the topic of storing juice I know madvapes was doing testing of nic stored under different conditions. I can't link now as on phone but if memory serves me 6 months in and there was no drop in nic level at room temperature in a sealed container.

there was a 1mg drop in the bottle set in a window with cap off after three months

just go to 0mg like me,,bring on the doomsday and zombie apocalypse !! at the same time no less

My base nic is close to 2 years old, and has been stored in UV resistant bottles at room temp. It has darkened a bit from oxidization, but I've not noticed any drop in strength, or any change in flavour.

Not very scientific, but that's my experience.

The main problem comes with freezing flavored e-liquid. The flavorings can change unfavorably and unpredictably when frozen.

I keep a big stash of 100 mg./ml. high-test unflavored nic-liquid in my door-on-top freezer which is set to -10 degrees Farenheit. From what I've read, I suspect it'll be okay for a few decades. And I'm not planning on living much past 100 anyway.
