One thing I forgot to add. I strictly do MTL. Perhaps the alien is a bit overkill for me?

That would be more of a concern for the tank then the mod.

For the baby beast tank, I run it around 65 watts with air wide open. I gave it a try just closing down the air flow pretty tight and was close to MTL to me, but I have been all DL for over a year so take that for what it is worth. Perhaps the tank might be more then you want. Not sure what you normally run.

As far as the mod (the Alien), it can be adjusted down as low as 6 watts I believe, so you can use pretty much any tank you want on it. If you normally run 20 watts or less, a 200 watt mod sure sounds like overkill. I never go anywhere near 200 watts (rarely over about 78), but what that 200 watt means to me is exceptional battery life. I head out in the morning on an all day trip and there is no worry about running out of battery. Then again, I always take a second mod just in case something goes amiss with the first (and it is a very handy case for spare batteries, like I would need them :D).

Bottom line to me, it again comes down to personal preference. Most any dual 18650 mod will fall in the overkill category as far as power, but will be the bee's knees on battery life. Or, if there is a single battery mod out there that strikes your fancy and battery life is not a major concern, that may interest you more. I have no personal experience with it, but a lot of people really talk up the Pico, so that may be worth a look.

Sorry! There I go getting all wordy again.

I've refrained from making more comments because it is hard enough making one's own choice as well as understanding another's preferences to make a recommendation. I don't want to come off as pushing to/away from specific items. However......

I have a Lavabox DNA 200 and it is a very nice mod. It is easily the best temp control mod I have, hands down, and I only use it for what little temp control vaping I do. But in all honesty, I feel like it is overkill for my style of vaping. I can see for those doing all kinds of fancy and/or multiple temp control builds, the escribe software gives them an almost unlimited range of options. For me, using factory coils or simple single kanthal builds, there is little advantage with those abilities. At the price of the Lavabox, I prefer the Alien kit and G-Priv 220 kit both with a good amount of $ left over.

Speaking of which, should you opt for the Alien (I would also suggest taking a close look at the G-Priv 220 with a really nice touch screen), you might compare the difference in price between the kit with the Baby Beast versus just the mod and going for the Big Baby Beast. Both very nice vapes, but less filling with the bigger tank. Of course you could get both kits and have enough left out of your $150 to pick up some spare coils. :sneaky: :D VapeNW has a 15% discount code right now for a pretty good deal.

Just to whet your appetite:

I agree with everything you said. You should match your hardware to your vape style. Almost all of my vaping is in temp control, so a bunch of DNA mods are great for me. If I were only using single Kanthal and factory coils I'd save that money too. Using a DNA board to drive Kanthal is really unnecessary, as nice as they are.

I also agree the Big Baby is, IMO, preferable to the Baby Beast as 2 ml tanks hold little appeal to me. Also, in my case I almost always rely on RTAs, so I didn't need another atty and more types of factory coils to buy, so I got the Alien alone (actually, on a flash sale at Ecig where they threw in 2 nice LG batteries as well). I think the Alien is a great little 2 battery mod. The G-Priv touch screen does look really cool. And with the Big Baby as part of the kit, you can make a decent argument for going with that over the Alien.

As usual, I got up this morning and grabbed my IPV D2 (single 18650) with an Atlantis v1 loaded with my Reds juice at 32 watts for my morning coffee while reading the paper. After breakfast, I swapped out that tank for a Kanger Sub Tank loaded with Coffee Cake at 28 watts while I checked my e-mails and facebook before checking ECF. Still hitting that as I checked to see if @RottenJeeves had made his choice yet or perhaps still checking things out, suddenly I have a  moment.......why hadn't mentioned the IPV D2 (better yet, the D3) as a viable option? After all, it suits me perfectly fine every day for the first few hours!

So with a quick check, I find it is still available for around $35 ($5 more for the D3), so felt I would be remiss in not at least mentioning it. But do I recommend it? So I set it on my desk next to a Sigelei 213, Fuchai 213, an IPV 400, and my Alien (all dual 18650 mods at around $50-$60), all only a bit bigger and heavier then the D2. For me, the extra $20 or so and size/weight difference are easily offset by the additional battery life and power range. Pretty much comes down yet again to personal preference.

Not only making this post for RJ, but anybody else in his position that may run across this thread. But do let us know what you decide and how it works out for you, RJ.

Id really like to order something but I already have 3 items lost in the mail by USPS and UPS. I am afraid that it will just get added to the collection. I guess it just gives me plenty of time to think things over. :) Once the holiday rush is over things should go back to normal.

an IPV 400, and my Alien (all dual 18650 mods at around $50-$60)

Well, dang! They made a liar out of me! Per e-mail this morning, Alien mod alone available for $44.

So that's where all this cool stuff showing up in my mailbox came from! :mail:

Man, that really sucks and I feel for ya, Jeeves! Hope "lost in the mail" turns out to be "running late."

Is there any advantage of a dual battery over a single other then longevity?
Possibility of higher wattage (more than 60w safely), less voltage drop as the strain is on two batteries (possibility to drain the batteries lower as the voltage under load is higher), bucking more often than boosting due to the higher voltage available (more effective). The last two relate to battery runtime though.
